We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision one can make in life. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the foundation of our faith—believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and confessing Him with our mouths. It is through faith in Jesus that we are saved. But let us remember that true faith involves a genuine change of heart and a turning away from our sins.
In Acts 3:19 WEB, it is written, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."
Repentance is a crucial part of our journey to salvation. It means acknowledging our sins, feeling genuine remorse for them, and making a conscious decision to turn away from them and follow Jesus.
As you embark on this journey, we encourage you to read and study the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—as they provide a comprehensive account of the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Starting with the book of John is a wonderful idea. John presents Jesus as the Word become flesh, the Savior of the world, and the Son of God.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray for this individual seeking Your face and Your truth. Open their heart and mind to receive the good news of the Gospel. Help them to understand the depth of Your love and the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for their sins.
Grant them the courage to confess Jesus as Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. Strengthen their faith and give them the power to turn away from their sins and follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Guide them as they read and study Your Word, and may the Holy Spirit illuminate the Scriptures to them.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
