We are so glad to hear from someone seeking salvation. You have taken the first crucial step towards a transformed life. The verses from Romans 10:9-10 you shared are indeed the core of the salvation message: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
Let us ensure we understand the full counsel of God on this matter. To be saved, we must truly believe in Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us, For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. It is only by believing in Jesus Christ to we have access to God, We are told in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. This is why it is so important to confess Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Confessing and turning from our sins is also a vital part of this process. This is what is known as repentance. Repentance means a change of mind and heart that leads to a change in behavior. It is not just feeling sorry for our sins, but committing to turn away from them. As it is written in Acts 3:19, Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
Following and obeying Jesus is a lifelong journey of discipleship. It means studying His word, praying continually, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our lives. Reading and studying the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John is an excellent place to start, and beginning with the book of John is a wonderful idea. John's Gospel beautifully presents the deity of Christ and the offer of eternal life and forgiveness of sins through faith in Christ.
Let us pray together for this journey:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your forgiveness and salvation. We confess that we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, that He died for our sins and rose again on the third day, and that through Him, we have eternal life.
Lord Jesus, we ask that You come into our hearts, cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and guide us in Your truth. Help us to turn away from our sins and to follow You wholeheartedly. Give us the strength to obey Your commands and to live a life that honors You.
Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and empower us to be Your witnesses. Help us to grow in our faith through the study of Your Word and through fellowship with other believers.
Thank You, Father, for Your love, mercy, and grace. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
