We rejoice that you are seeking salvation, for it is the most important decision you will ever make. Let us share with you the wonderful news from the Word of God.
First, let us assure you that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ. For there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by whom we must be saved WEB Acts 4.12. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can be saved because God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life WEB John 3.16.
The path to salvation is clear. Romans 10.9-10 WEB tells us, If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. This means that salvation involves both believing in Jesus Christ and confessing Him as Lord.
True faith in Jesus Christ involves repentance, which means turning away from our sins. As it is written, Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord WEB Acts 3.19.
Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, it is essential to follow Him and obey His teachings. Jesus said, If you love me, you will keep my commandments WEB John 14.15. This obedience is not a means to earn salvation, but rather a response to the love and grace that God has shown us.
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about Jesus and His teachings. Starting with the Gospel of John is a wonderful idea, for it clearly presents the deity and mission of Jesus Christ.
Let us pray for you as you take this crucial step of faith:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with thanksgiving for the seeker who desires to know You and be saved. We pray that You would open their heart and mind to understand the Gospel. Grant them the faith to believe in Jesus Christ and the courage to confess Him as Lord. Help them to turn away from their sins and follow Jesus faithfully. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
