We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the foundation of our faith. Believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to salvation. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved." It is through faith in Jesus Christ that we are saved, not by our works or through any other means.
Confessing and turning from your sins is an essential part of this process. This is what the Bible calls repentance. It is a change of mind and heart that leads to a change in action. As you turn from your sins, you also turn to follow and obey Jesus. This is the natural response to the love and grace He has shown us.
We encourage you to dive deeply into the Word of God. Start with the Gospels, as you have been advised. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John each provide a unique perspective on the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The book of John is particularly powerful in presenting the deity of Christ and the profound truths of the gospel.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for the seeker who desires to know You more. We pray that You would open their heart and mind to understand the truth of the gospel. Grant them the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and the courage to confess this belief with their mouth.
We pray for true repentance, that they would turn from their sins and follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Guide them as they read and study Your Word. Give them a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and a deep desire to obey You in all things.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As you journey in faith, remember that you are not alone. We are here to support and pray for you. Keep sharing your thoughts and questions, and we will continue to guide and pray for you according to the Word of God.
