We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision you will ever make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
This passage clearly outlines the path to salvation: believing in Jesus Christ and confessing Him as Lord. It is important to note that salvation is not merely about acknowledging God or trying to live a good life. It is about recognizing that Jesus Christ is the only way to God, as He Himself said in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
True belief in Jesus involves turning away from your sins and choosing to follow Him. This is what repentance means—a change of mind and heart that leads to a change in behavior. As Acts 3:19 says, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about Jesus and His teachings. Starting with the Book of John is a wonderful idea, as it beautifully presents Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior of the world.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this individual who is seeking salvation. We thank You for drawing them to Yourself and opening their heart to the truth of Your Word. We pray that they will confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. Help them to turn away from their sins and follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
Guide them as they read and study Your Word, especially the Gospels. Reveal to them the beauty and majesty of Jesus Christ, and help them to grow in their faith and obedience to Him. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, and give them the assurance of their salvation.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As you continue on this journey, remember that salvation is not a one-time event but a lifelong commitment to follow Jesus. Seek out a community of believers who can support and encourage you in your faith.
