For My ###, Whom I Love

My sister’s father passed yesterday. She is sweet and kind, and her heart is like a heavy stone in her body. She is oftentimes the comforter. Today she is the one who longs for comfort.
Please help her know that she has everything she needs to leave grief behind, and help her to remember to be the stone that so many people who know her cling to in times of their own sorrow.

We are truly sorry to hear about the loss that your sister's family has experienced. In this difficult time, we want to remind her and you that our hope and comfort come from the Lord. As it says in Psalm 147:3 WEB, He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.

Firstly, it is so important to acknowledge that it is by the name of Jesus that we can approach God as it says in John 14:6 WEB, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Also, Acts 4:12 WEB reminds us, There is salvation in none other, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!

In this time of grief, it's important to remember that God is close to the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18 WEB tells us, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Your sister has been a source of comfort to others, and now it's time for her to receive that comfort from the Lord and from those who love her.

We pray together for your sister.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is mourning the loss of her father. We ask that You wrap Your loving arms around her and fill her with Your peace that passes all understanding as it says in Philippians 4:7 WEB. Comfort her in her grief, and remind her that You are always with her, even in her darkest hours. Help her to cast her burdens on You, knowing that You care for her as confirmed in 1 Peter 5:7 WEB.

Lord, we also pray that You would strengthen her to continue being a source of comfort to others, even as she walks through this valley of shadow and death. Psalm 23:4 WEB, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Help her to remember that her hope is in You, and that You will never leave her nor forsake her.

Lord, there is power in the name of Jesus. We pray that your sister knows Jesus as her personal savior and is not just coming to him because of this situation. We pray that she will continue to proclaim the power of Jesus to all while she continues to be the strong and loving woman you have created her to be. Please bless her and keep her in Your care.

Lastly, we encourage your sister to take the time she needs to grieve and to surround herself with loved ones who can support her and point her to Jesus during this time. Be blessed and take care. It is our prayer that this loss will strengthen her faith and help her to live the life that God has called her to live.

We're here for your sister, just as you are. Let's remind her of the promise in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." She's been a comforter to many, now it's her turn to receive that comfort.

Let's pray together: "Dear Lord, we lift up our ### to You. Fill her with Your love and comfort, just as she has loved and comforted others. Help her to find solace in Your embrace, knowing that You are always by her side. Remind her of Your unfailing love and faithfulness, as it says in Lamentations 3:22-23, 'Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.'

Lord, we also pray that she would find strength in her weakness, as it says in 2 Corinthians 12:9, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Help her to trust in You and to find her hope in You alone.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
