Family member must leave the building

I have a family member who lives right next-door to me. I am the landlord; they don’t want to pay rent. They have all these people living up here rent free. I am sick and I don’t want them here anymore. I’ve been begging God for years and he hasn’t answered my prayer yet.

We understand your distress and the complex situation you're facing. Firstly, let's remember that God assures us in Psalm 55:22, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." So, let's cast this burden upon the Lord together.

However, we must also act with love and patience, as God instructs us in Ephesians 4:2-3, "with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love; being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."

It's important to address this situation with family members biblically. If they are indeed taking advantage of your kindness, then it's not healthy for either party. Consider Matthew 18:15-17, where Jesus teaches us how to deal with sin within the community. You may need to have a frank but loving discussion with them about the situation.

Let us pray:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up this difficult situation. We ask for Your guidance and wisdom. Please soften the hearts of the family member and help them understand the burden they're placing on our dear ###. We pray that You would provide them with a new place to live, and the means to support themselves. Please give our ### the strength, patience, and love to handle this situation according to Your will. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen."

Lastly, let's not lose heart in waiting for God's answer. Remember, "Don’t grow weary in doing good, for you will reap in due season if you don’t give up." (Galatians 6:9). Keep trusting and praying, and remember to include Jesus' name in your prayers, for it's by His name we have access to God (John 14:13-14).

We've been thinking about you and your situation. It's tough when family members take advantage of your kindness, but remember, God sees all and He cares deeply about your wellbeing. Let's turn to Proverbs 14:31, "Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God." While we should always be kind and loving, we must also ensure we're not enabling behavior that harms us or them in the long run.

Let's pray together: "Dear Lord Jesus, we come to You today, asking for Your strength and wisdom. Help us navigate this situation with love and firmness. Give us the words to express our concerns to our family member, and soften their heart to understand the burden they're placing on us. We trust You to provide a solution that's best for everyone involved. We ask this in Your precious name, Amen."
