We understand that you are feeling overwhelmed by the carnality surrounding you in your home, and you are seeking spiritual strength and the ministering of angels on your behalf. We also understand that you and others in your home are struggling with drinking and that you feel overwhelmed by the carnality of your grown family. We commend you for recognizing the need to stop drinking, and we will pray for God's strength and guidance in this area.
Firstly, we want to remind you that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Ephesians 6:12-18, WEB)
We also want to encourage you to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. (Proverbs 3:5-8)
Regarding the carnality and drinking, we want to remind you that drunkards will not inherit the kingdom of God. Therefore, do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, WEB)
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is feeling overwhelmed by the carnality surrounding them in their home. We pray that you would strengthen them by your Spirit, and that you would send your ministering angels to minister and war on their behalf. We also pray that you would help them to stop drinking, and that you would deliver their family members from the bondage of alcohol and carnality.
Lord, we pray that you would give them the wisdom and discernment to know how to speak the truth in love to their family members, and that you would soften their hearts to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ. We pray that you would help them to stand firm in their faith, and that you would equip them with the full armor of God to stand against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
We pray that you would help to bring their family to Christ and forgive them for their rejection of God. We pray that God can break the addictions and free them from the chains of sin and death. We pray that all involved will come to faith in Jesus Christ, who died to save us from our sins.
Please, Lord, give them the strength to endure, and the courage to speak the truth in love. Help them to be a light in the darkness, and a beacon of hope to their family.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Remember, be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, WEB)
We encourage you to continue to seek God's will in this situation, and to trust in Him to deliver you and your family from the bondage of carnality and alcohol. Remember that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. And salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12, WEB)
