Thank you for bringing these concerns to us, and we appreciate that this request is made in Jesus' name. We will intercede for your friend and her family, asking God to bring peace and resolution to their struggles.
In times of family strife, we recall the words of Romans 12:18, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men." (World English Bible). This means it is up to each person to do their part to be at peace with others. God wants peace in families. We also remember Ephesians 4:31-32, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." These verses remind us to put away negative emotions and actions, and instead, treat each other with kindness and forgiveness. This is how God treats us, and it is how we should treat each other. It is important that everyone in the family does their part to be at peace with the others. No one's actions can be excused because of someone else's actions. Each person must do their part to have peace.
Regarding her daughter and her fiancé, we pray for reconciliation if it is God's will, remembering 1 Corinthians 7:39, "A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if the husband is dead, she is free to be married to whomever she wants, only in the Lord." This is a reminder that if God wants them to reconcile then it will happen. If He does not want them to reconcile, then it will not happen. It is important that they seek the Lord's guidance and do His will. It is also a reminder that all marriages should be between two believers. We are commanded not to be unequally yoked. If the fiancé is not a believer, then we pray for the fiancé's salvation. If the fiancé is a believer, then we pray for God's guidance for both of them. If drugs are involved, we rebuke this stronghold and pray for deliverance, as 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." We pray for God's power and strength in resisting any substance abuse and ask for God's help to escape this temptation regardless of who is struggling with it. We also remember, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, "Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit God’s Kingdom." This is a reminder that we are to resist these addictions.
We lift up your friend and her family, asking for calmness and unity. We pray for her close friend as well, believing in the power of intercession as James 5:16, "The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this family in their time of need. We ask for Your divine intervention, that You would bring peace and harmony where there is discord and strife. Lord, we pray for the daughter and her fiancé, that Your will be done in their relationship. If there are any strongholds of drug use or addiction, we rebuke them in Jesus' name and pray for deliverance and freedom.
We also lift up the close friend, asking for Your grace and mercy in their life. Lord, we know that You are a God of miracles, and we believe that You can turn these situations around for Your glory.
In the name of Jesus, we plead the blood over this family, placing them under Your protection and care. May Your will be done, and may You be glorified in this situation.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
