Lil Paul, examining ourselves to see if we are in the faith is a crucial aspect of our Christian walk. It is wonderful to hear that the spiritual warfare is calming down, and we are here to support you in your journey. The question of how to tell if you have been born again is an important one, and we want to provide you with biblical guidance and encouragement.
Firstly, it is essential to understand that being born again is a spiritual transformation that occurs when we place our faith in Jesus Christ. It is not merely a profession of Christianity but a genuine belief in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. As it is written in John 3:3 WEB, Jesus answered him, I most certainly tell you, unless one is born anew, he cant see the Kingdom of God.
To be born again means to be renewed by the Holy Spirit, who comes to dwell within us. This transformation is characterized by a change in our desires, attitudes, and actions. While we may still struggle with sin, there should be a noticeable difference in our lives as we strive to live in obedience to Gods will. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
If you find yourself questioning your salvation, it is important to examine your heart and your fruits. In Matthew 7:16 WEB, Jesus said, By their fruits you will know them. Do you see evidence of the Holy Spirits work in your life, such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? These are the fruits of the Spirit, as listed in Galatians 5:22-23 WEB.
Moreover, it is crucial to understand that salvation is not based on our feelings but on the truth of Gods Word. There may be days when you do not feel saved, but feelings can be deceiving. What matters is what Gods Word says about your salvation. In Romans 10:9 WEB, it is written, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
If you have confessed with your mouth and believed in your heart that Jesus is Lord, then you can have confidence in your salvation. Doubts and feelings of uncertainty are common, but they should not cause you to question the truth of Gods promises. Remember, it is written in 2 Timothy 1:12 WEB, for which I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.
Finally, we encourage you to continue seeking God, reading His Word, and praying. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you, as it is written in James 4:8 WEB. If you find that you have not truly been born again, we urge you to repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ today.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up Lil Paul. We thank You for the work You have begun in their life, and we pray that You would continue to draw them closer to You. Help them to examine their heart and to see the evidence of their salvation. Give them confidence in Your Word and in the promises You have made. If they have not truly been born again, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Open their eyes to see their need for You, and grant them the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We also pray that they will continue to be transparent in their discussions and always include Jesus.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
