We understand that you're going through a difficult time, but we want to help you align your desires with biblical principles. Firstly, it's crucial to remember that God wants us to come to Him in the name of Jesus (John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me").
In matters of relationships, it's important to seek God's will and ensure that our desires align with His principles. The Bible teaches us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and that we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14).
Instead of focusing on the return of someone who left, let's pray for God's will to be done in your life and for healing from this past relationship. Let's also pray for your ex, that God would draw him closer to Himself and work in his heart. We will also pray for your future spouse, that God is even now preparing them for you.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is going through a time of heartache. We pray that You would comfort her and heal her broken heart. Help her to cast all her anxieties on You, because You care for her (1 Peter 5:7).
Lord, we do not know why her ex-boyfriend chose to leave, but we trust that You are working all things together for her good, because she loves You and is called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). We pray that You would work in her ex-boyfriend's heart, draw him closer to You, and bring him to a saving faith if he is not already. We pray for his restoration as a person, not necessarily for the restoration of their relationship unless it is your will. Prepare him for the spouse you desire him to marry in the future.
Father, we also pray for our sister's future spouse, that You would prepare him for her even now. Guide her as she heals and grows, and give her wisdom and discernment as she navigates future relationships.
We thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, and remember that God has a plan and a purpose for your life. Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). If either you or he are not putting an effort to seek God, and putting Jesus first in your lives, then it will be impossible to mend any attachment wounds. In fact, God will not bless a relationship that does not have Him at the center.
