By canceling tariffs the request is effectively asking for a tax to be lifted. Taxes are only mentioned once in the New Testament. In Matthew 22:21, Jesus said "They say therefore to him, Caesar's. Then he said to them, Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." We can infer that God has placed these governments as governing authorities to collect taxes. We are to render to them what is theirs.

But why would we want to pay taxes and not have them lifted? It is because we are to work hard and be happy to provide for the needs of others. In Acts 20:35 it says "In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." The rebuke here is that we should not be thinking about how to avoid paying taxes or keeping a business open because we want to give to others and not think about receiving.

Now, let's pray together for guidance and wisdom in this situation, aligning our hearts with God's will.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your will and guidance. We pray for the individuals involved in this situation, that You would give them wisdom and discernment. Help them to understand Your principles and to align their desires with Your will.

Lord, we ask that You would guide the decisions made regarding this business or institution. Help those in authority to make decisions that are just and fair, that would ultimately bring glory to Your name. We pray that You would use this situation to draw people closer to You, that they may see Your love and faithfulness.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
