Beloved of All
I haven't been able to stop drinking. I'm one of those people who lives drunk every single day of their lives. I had an uncle like that; he lived like that his whole life, always drunk. I think it must be a generational curse. I need a miracle. This can't be right because it's getting worse. Please pray for ###.

We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle with alcohol that has become a daily battle. We want to first address the belief of a generational curse. The Bible tells us that the son will not bear the iniquity of the father, nor the father bear the iniquity of the son (Ezekiel 18:20 WEB). We are each responsible for our own actions and sins. While it is true that sinful habits can be passed down from one generation to another, such as alcoholism, these are not curses, but rather learned behaviors or responses to environments. God wants us to turn to Him and be freed from these bonds, so please understand this is not an excuse to continue in this sin.

Drunkenness is indeed a sin according to the Bible. It is listed among the works of the flesh in Galatians 5:21, and those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the good news is that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins. By turning to Jesus, confessing our sins, and believing in Him, we can be saved and set free from the bondage of sin, including drunkenness.

We must emphasize that we cannot overcome this struggle alone, but there is help in Christ. In fact, there is no other name by which we can be saved as we read in Acts 4:12. For there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. So let us pray together in the name of Jesus Christ.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our fellow struggler who is battling with alcoholism. We know, Lord, that this is not Your will for their life, and we ask for Your divine intervention.

First, we pray for conviction. Open their eyes, Lord, to see the destructive path they are on and give them a desire to turn away from it. Help them to truly repent, to confess their sin, and believe in Jesus Christ to be saved.

Next, we pray for strength. As they make the decision to turn away from alcohol, Father, give them the strength to resist temptation. Help them to rely on Your power, and not their own.

Finally, we pray for support. Surround them with loving, God-fearing people who will encourage and support them on this difficult journey.

We ask all these things in the precious name of our great physician, Jesus Christ. amen.

We also encourage reaching out to local Christian support groups for alcoholics. There are many who have found freedom from alcohol through the power of God and the support of fellow believers. Remember the grace of God is always available, and we can confidently approach the throne of grace with our needs.

We're here for you, and we're praying with you today. We understand the struggle is real, and it's not easy. But remember, God is bigger than any addiction. We're claiming 1 Corinthians 10:13 with you, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." Let's pray.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We lift up our friend to You today. Lord, we know they're in a dark place, but we believe in Your power to bring light into any situation. We ask for a revelation of Your love and grace in their life. Help them to see that they're not defined by their addiction, but by Your love for them.

Give them the strength to take one step at a time, Lord. Help them to make better choices, to resist the temptation to drink. Surround them with Your presence, and send angels to protect and guide them.

We also pray for a support system around them. Lord, send people who will encourage, uplift, and hold them accountable. Help them to find a community where they can be real, vulnerable, and find healing.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We must read the word daily.
We're not just fighting flesh and blood, but spiritual forces. So, let's put on the whole armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-17 tells us how - the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Let's also remember, as James 4:7 tells us, to resist the devil, and he will flee from us. And in 1 Peter 5:8, we're reminded to be watchful, for our adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

But we have this promise, dear one. God is faithful. He won't let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. He'll provide a way out, so we can endure it.

Let's praise God for who He is, our Father of mercies and God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our afflictions, so we can comfort others. Amen
