Let us come together, in the name of Jesus Christ, to lift up this precious soul who is battling depression and feeling overwhelmed by her thoughts and emotions. We stand with her in this dark time, and we know that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18.
Firstly, we want to address that the battle she is fighting is not something to be ashamed of, but rather an opportunity for God to show His strength and power in her life. We are encouraged in 2 Corinthians 12:9, But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
However, we want to remind her that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy John 10:10, and he may be using these feelings of depression to try and silence the beautiful life and calling on her. We must be vigilant and stand against these attacks, I Peter 5:8. Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister in Christ who is battling depression and feelings of hopelessness. Lord, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted, and we ask that You would be her strength and comfort in this time of need. Help her to fix her eyes on You, knowing that You are the author and perfecter of her faith Hebrews 12:2.
We rebuke the enemy and any spirits of depression, suicide, and hopelessness that may be attacking her right now. In the name of Jesus, we command them to flee and never return. We proclaim that she has the mind of Christ I Corinthians 2:16, and that her thoughts and emotions are brought into submission to Your will.
Lord, we ask that You would surround her with godly community and support, reminding her that she is not alone in this fight. Help her to reach out to those around her, sharing her struggles and allowing them to pray for and encourage her.
Ultimately, Lord, we ask that You would be glorified through this trial. That she would emerge from this battle even stronger in her faith and more passionate about sharing Your love and hope with others.
In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage her to seek godly counsel and professional help if needed. There is no shame in admitting that we need support, and God has placed people in our lives to help us in our times of need. Galatians 6:2, Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. We also want to ask her if she knows Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. It is only through Him that we find true hope and peace in this fallen world. Jesus Christ said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6.
