We are truly heartbroken to read your prayer request, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this dark time. While you have addressed your prayer to the LORD, Jesus Christ, we want to remind you that God is not a God of death, but of life. He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly.
Firstly, we must address that God is not pleased with the wish for one's own death or to have never been born. In Jeremiah 1:5 WEB it is written before I formed you in the belly, I knew you. Before you came forth out of the womb, I sanctified you. In Jeremiah 29:11 WEB, God says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Your life has purpose and meaning, even if you cannot see it right now.
We understand that you are going through a tremendously difficult time, but we want to encourage you to hold on to the promise of Psalm 34:18 WEB The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. God is close to you right now, and He wants to comfort and help you.
Suicide is never the solution, it is a permanent solution to temporary problems. We must remind you that taking one's own life is a grave sin in the eyes of God. In the Ten Commandments, God commands You shall not murder Exodus 20:13. This includes taking one's own life. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB it says Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Please reach out to a local church, a trusted Christian friend, or a mental health professional. There are people who care about you and want to help you through this difficult time. We also strongly advise that you seek support from Christians or a pastor to get help with the thoughts you are having and the troubles that you face.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up this precious soul to You, asking for Your comfort and guidance in their time of need. We pray that You would remind them of their worth and purpose in Your eyes. We ask God that you would deliver them from the thoughts and actions of taking their own life. Surround them with Your love, and bring people into their life who can support and encourage them. Help them to see that there is hope and a future in You. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we want to remind you that God loves you more than you could ever imagine. He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for your sins, so that you might have eternal life. If you have not already, consider Matthew 11:28-30 WEB then hear from Jesus Christ Himself:
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
John 3:16-18 WEB For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.
