Have you ever had such a bad day that you wanted a "do over"? Or maybe a bad year like this year?
This thought crossed my mind last week. While driving to work one morning, I decided to go a different way than I normally do so I could get to the main road faster. I was the 4th vehicle in line at the stop sign to turn right onto the main road. A semi-truck was waiting to try to turn left onto the road I was on. He abruptly turned left to avoid the oncoming cars and while he was looking at his trailer swinging around the corner, he wasn't paying attention that the road curved right there and his cab was inches away from my drivers door. I blasted the horn and he jumped and swerved away from my vehicle. I had no where to go trapped between the car in front of me and behind me. I really don't know how he avoided hitting me except it had to be God! Either he would have killed me or pinned me into a crumpled mess of steel. It shook me up pretty bad.
Later while at work, someone told me that this little 4 year old girl we were praying for had passed away. I can't imagine as a parent, having to pull the plug on your little child. So why does God protect me from an accident and yet let's this little girl pass away? I can't answer that! What I do know is that not one of us is promised tomorrow! We have to love God & praise Him through blessings and sufferings. I am sure Job felt like he needed a few "do overs"! There are things in life we have no control over but we know the one who does. We need to keep our hearts and eyes on God and Him alone to get us through those times.
There have been many things in my past that I wish I could do over. Unfortunately we can't go back and erase the past but we can learn from it and move forward. We can be a better person, make better choices and grow more in Christ!
So remember, everyday you can wake up in the morning and it is a "do over" day. Don't beat yourself up by what happened yesterday or the day before. Start over and ask God to help you every step of the way. God has told us He will never leave us or forsake us. What a blessing that is!
