We are truly sorry to hear about the workplace abuse you're experiencing. It's important to remember that God cares about every aspect of our lives, including our work environment. In 1 Peter 2:18-20, the WEB says, "Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked. For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God. For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God."
While these verses teach us to endure suffering patiently, they do not mean we should accept abuse or injustice without action. God calls us to seek justice and to treat others with kindness and respect. In Proverbs 22:29, it says that we should not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. In Colossians 3:23-24, we are reminded, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Lord, we come before You today to lift up this person who is facing abuse and threats in the workplace. We pray for Your protection and guidance. Give them the wisdom to know how to respond to these threats and the courage to stand up for what is right. We pray that You would soften the hearts of those who are causing harm and bring conviction upon them. Help this person to find a new job if that is Your will, and provide for their needs during this time. We ask for peace and comfort during this difficult time and for this person to look to you as they persevere in this trial. We pray that their work would be done as working for You, Lord, and not for men.
We also want to encourage you to seek godly counsel and support during this time. Document any incidents of abuse or threats, and consider reporting them to the appropriate authorities or human resources department. Trust that God is with you and will guide your steps.
