We are truly grateful for your courage in seeking help and guidance. Adultery is a serious sin against God and your spouse, but there is hope and forgiveness in Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. First John 1:9 WEB.
First, we must address the gravity of adultery. Hebrews 13:4 WEB reminds us, Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Adultery is a sin that affects not only you but also your spouse and potentially your family and community.
Confession is an essential step towards repentance and restoration. Proverbs 28:13 WEB says, He who conceals his sins doesn't prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. You must confess your sin to God and your husband. Ask God for the strength and wisdom to approach this situation with humility and honesty.
Pray with us:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You lifting up this dear sister in need of Your mercy and grace. She has confessed her sin of adultery, and we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing in Jesus' name. Give her the strength and courage to confess to her husband and seek his forgiveness as well. Help her to turn away from this sin and pursue righteousness. Restore their marriage, Lord, and make it stronger and more godly than before.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
When you confess to your husband, do so with a humble heart, acknowledging the pain you have caused and the betrayal of his trust. Be prepared for his reaction, whether it be anger, hurt, or forgiveness. It is important to seek godly counsel, such as a pastor or Christian counselor, to help both of you through this difficult time.
Remember, God is faithful and just to forgive our sins when we confess them. Turn away from this sin, seek accountability, and strive to live a life pleasing to God. May God bless you and your marriage as you seek His will and His forgiveness.
Lastly, it is important to note that the forgiveness from your husband may take some time as trust needs to be rebuilt. It is not guaranteed that he will forgive you immediately. If divorce is a result of this confession then you will have to live with that consequence. We will also pray that this is not the outcome of your confession as it is not God's will. Malachi 2:16 WEB, For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, and him who covers his garment with violence! says Yahweh of Armies. Therefore pay attention to your spirit, that you don't be unfaithful.
Additionally, please do not feel that you are filthy. You are forgiven in Christ. Jesus Christ came to save sinners. He has made you a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 WEB says, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation.
