We are truly saddened to hear about the situation with your ex-husband and the pain that his actions have caused. Firstly, we want to emphasize that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Therefore, we will pray in Jesus' name.
Your ex-husband's behavior is clearly against God's will. The Bible tells us to flee from sexual immorality and that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
The fact is that any intimate relationship outside of marriage is sin. Marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as outlined in the Bible. Anything outside of this including same sex relationships is immoral. We are instructed to not be deceived regarding this in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 WEB, "Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God."
We must also address that using pornography is also sinful. Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28 WEB, "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." It is clear God's standard is high and pure.
Let us pray for your ex-husband, that God may deliver him from his addictions and turn his heart towards Him.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up the ex-husband of this dear sister. We pray that You may have mercy on him and set him free from his addictions to pornography and sex. We rebuke the spirits of lust, immorality, adultery, homosexuality, and any other ungodly influence in his life in Jesus name. We pray for his heart to return to you and to seek godly relationships that align with Your will. Restore his life and make him a new creature in Christ.
We also pray for healing and comfort for your daughter. May she find solace in You and seek godly relationships aligning with Your will. Guide her on the path of righteousness and surround her with Your unfailing love.
Help us to have the strength to live our lives according to Your will and to resist temptations. Remind us daily of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
If either of them have not believed in Jesus Christ, we pray that they will believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. The basic salvation message is this:
John 3:16-17 WEB, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn't send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him."
We all have sinned against God. Romans 3:23 WEB, "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;" The punishment for sin is death. Romans 3:23,6:23a WEB, "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God...For the wages of sin is death,"
But in Romans 5:8 WEB, "But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
In Romans 10:9 WEB, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
