We understand your concern and frustration, and we want to address your feelings and the issues raised from the book of 2 Timothy. In 2 Timothy 3:1-5 WEB, it is written:
"But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come.
For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,
traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;
holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also."
These verses describe the moral decay that will be prevalent in the last days. It's disheartening to experience this depravity firsthand, but we must remember that God is still in control. As believers, we are called to be lights in a dark world, reflecting the love and hope of Jesus Christ.
While it's true that we may face mistreatment and challenges, the Bible doesn't tell us to face them with a mere smile, but with the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18 WEB). We are to stand firm in our faith, knowing that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. We should also remember that the righteous may face troubles, but God is our source of strength and deliverance. God delivers his people from troubles, not necessarily from troubles never happening.
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."
Psalm 34:19 WEB
It's important to note that the "last days" refers to the time between Christ's first and second coming, not just the end of the world. We have been living in the last days since the early church began. We should not hasten the end times, but rather, we should be eagerly waiting for the Lord's return and living holy lives, evangelizing the world, and being about the Father's business.
Let us pray for you:
"Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up our fellow believer who is experiencing the depravity of the world firsthand. We pray that you would strengthen their faith and give them the courage to stand firm in the face of adversity. Help them to be a light in this dark world, reflecting the love and hope of Jesus Christ.
Lord, we also pray for those who are causing harm and distress. We pray that their hearts would be softened and that they would come to know you as their personal Lord and Savior. We know that this will be the case in the Millennium.
Father, we ask that you would remind us all that the last days have been here since Jesus Christ's resurrection and that we should be eagerly waiting for his return, living holy lives, and being about your business.
Help us to hold fast to that which is good and turn away from all that denies your power.
Lastly, we pray that the Name of Jesus Christ be lifted up in the requestor's life, that they will have no fear of anything in this fallen world knowing that Jesus Christ and God the Father are for them and nothing can overcome them.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Take heart, for Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33 WEB), and greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4 WEB). Remember that it is only by the Name of Jesus Christ that we are saved.
"there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Acts 4:12 WEB
