YOUR SPOUSE NEEDS HEART SURGERY!
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:45
Do you know how important your heart is to your body? If your heart stopped beating, you would die. The heart is essential to life. The heart is one of the main organs in your body. If you went to the Great Physician, what would He say upon examination about your spiritual heart or about your spouse's spiritual heart? Have you had your heart surgery by the Great Physician, Jesus? What is your mouth speaking? Are you praying daily that your husband or wife will call upon Jesus to touch and change their hardened heart? Do you know how much the heart is talked about in God’s Word?
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23
Today, may I suggest you examine your own heart to make certain that you have a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord. Have you cried out to the Lord, like I did after I realized my own mistakes in our marriage? Ask the Lord to forgive you and then change you into the husband/wife and father/mother you need to become. Let me share a few scriptures that will help you and are also excellent for your beloved spouse:
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
"I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent." 1 Chronicles 29:17
The heart is talked about in the Bible frequently as part of a person's character. Let me share the meaning of a heart spiritually from the Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary:
A heart came to stand for man's entire mental and moral activity. In other words, the heart is like the hidden springs of the personal life . . . the Bible describes human depravity as in the 'heart,' because sin is a principle which has its seat in the center of man's inward life, and then ‘defiles' the whole circuit of his action. On the other hand, scripture regards the heart as the sphere of divine influence. The heart as lying deep within, contains the 'hidden' or real man. It represents the true character, but conceals it.
What is your true character? Are you walking in faith and victory for the restoration of your marriage or are you double minded? What kind of example are you to others regarding the marriage problems that you are facing? Are you helping by praying for others who are having marriage problems around you? Have you become a woman or man of faith, hoping and trusting in your Lord God to move your mountain of circumstances into the deepest sea?
I pray that you will not allow the enemy to plant seeds of doubt, unbelief, fear and unforgiveness into your heart. That is why you and I must confess our faults and our sins daily to keep the channel open to our Heavenly Father who knows and see all things. Choose every day to surrender your life to stand up for the sanctity of your marriage, your wedding vows and proclaim that you have a marriage covenant, not a contract, that cannot be broken!
As you read the Word of God daily, you can ask the Lord to reveal special scriptures that would be good to pray for your spouse or your children's hearts and then pray God's Word as prayers. Is your spouse disobeying God's commands? Are they living in sin? We must know that there are consequences to sin and if they or any sinner does not repent and ask the Lord to be head of their life - they will die and live in an eternal separation from God. That is why I pray that you will not take lightly the assignment that your Lord is asking you to pray and stand in the gap for your husband or wife and marriage.
How would you describe your husband's or wife's heart? If your spouse is talking about not loving you or has divorced you, they have a hardened heart or a heart of stone. One of the most important prayers that you can pray daily that your spouse will have a heart transplant is in Ezekiel 36:25-26.
But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God "will give to each person according to what he has done." To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil. . . Romans 2:5-9
You and I must realize and admit that we each will reap what we sow. There are consequences to living in sin. I pray that you will become burdened to pray for your spouse and other loved ones who are denying your Lord Jesus Christ and not living a Christ-like lifestyle.
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? "I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve." Jeremiah 17:9-10
"Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!" Ezekiel 18:30-32
I often think, "If everyone would just read their Bible daily, you can keep your eyes, ears and heart on your Lord Jesus Christ. You will not stray or fall into sin. Allow the Holy Spirit to be your policeman in your life, telling you when to slow down because you are speeding or where to stop and check that you are on the right road to marriage restoration and eternity."
Have you made a wrong turn going on a detour road headed to destruction? Then stop and turn around, immediately. You cannot reason with the enemy. There is nothing that is too bad that your Lord will not forgive and give you another chance. But remember, the enemy will try to deceive you into thinking you cannot say "no" to sin. You can! Remember, Satan is a liar and a deceiver and that is what the enemy is saying to your spouse right now. Show the enemy that, greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105
If you do not hunger and thirst for the Word of God daily, the enemy will come and start speaking temptation, thoughts, ideas and bad suggestions that will have you sinning, even to the extent of leaving your family even if you are a leader in your church or a pastor! Never doubt that the enemy is out to steal, kill and destroy you and every member of your family. Satan also knows all that can be accomplished if you surrender your life to the Lord and follow Him daily to do His will and way for your marriage and for your life!
Give the devil a black eye every day for your marriage by proclaiming that your Lord is going to resurrect and heal your marriage!
"I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God." Ezekiel 11:19-20
