Disciple of Prayer
You know I came across a website Rejoice Marriage Ministries several months back. It's a Christian based website based on standing and praying for the restoration of your marriage. They have a section where you can put your court dates and folks will pray for you. I've had two court dates that I posted on the website and sure enough both court dates were continued to another court date. I ask myself is this a sign from GOD to continue to pray and stand for my marriage? My wife left 7 months ago and says she's happy and has moved on. We are a younger couple I'm 37 and she is 31. Not to sound conceited but both have good head on our shoulders, great jobs and both good looking people not hard to move on and find someone else. BUT I can't seem to move on. I really felt this girl and I were meant to spend out lives together. This was my first marriage BUT her second. We have a beautiful daughter together. I've been praying for a sign from GOD is there someone better for me to move on or do I continue to stay faithful and pray and stand for my marriage although she clearly has moved on dating and all? My family, friends even pastors from my church and other churches have told me to move on. So many times I've went to unsubscribe to rejoice marriage ministries daily emails but I haven't. I'm a lost soul at the moment just want to be happy.

A great Bible book to read and read about is the book of Hosea.  It is about an unfailing love, at the direction of God.

Regarding your marriage, if you two do get a divorce, then I would say that you should wait to get married again only after your former wife marries again.

The best way to change your circumstances around you and to have the people around you do some changing is found in this verse of the Bible, the Word.

Proverbs 4:20-23 (ASV)
20  My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21  Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart.
22  For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.
23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.

You, your flesh, your family will all be affected if "you" will make Jesus and God your main focus in life. Read the Word daily, especially the New Testament. Read it, memorize passages, speak passages aloud, mediate on the Words you have read. Sing praise songs, worship the Lord, And love others around you.  Love them like Jesus does and says to do. When you do these things the people around you, your family, shall change. Keep your focus on Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit.

In the name of Jesus, I bless you with the life of God.

kbehrent, greatly appreciate your time and the knowledge thanks!

I went through a similar situation where my then wife wanted a divorce and I did not.  I love her and wanted to work on the marriage and I knew we could work things out.  I got into the Word more and developed a great relationship; with the Lord. I demonstrated my love and became a different man because of the Lord. The Lord worked things around to where she had to make a decision to get back together or to not get back together.  Because of the Lord she could have the man and husband she always wanted. We also had a daughter between us. Anyway, she decided against getting back together.  I was very disappointed, but I had the Lord and that was worth more than anything this world had to offer. It was five years later before the Lord released me to marry again. She got married again within a year of the divorce.

There is a lot more to the story, but that is some highlights.  My job was to focus on the Lord and take advantage of opportunities to show the love I had for my wife. Others at church said I was a real Hosea.

In the name of Jesus, I bless you with the life of God.

God hates divorce. Marriage is a covenant between a husband and wife and The Lord. Read the Bible and do not seek advice from divorced and remarried people who have committed adultery in God's eyes. Sorry if the truth is harsh but read The Word of God.

That's what scares me is my wife was married before. Was my marriage doomed from the beginning? Is it a waste of time to stand for my marriage?

Angel Beloved,

This is your covenant marriage, stand for it. I'm a bit older than you and think of me as your older sister in Christ and I'm the kind of big sister who tells it like it is. You said she was married before, this is your first marriage but you both have children from your previous relationships, is that right? I don't have all the answers but I know the One who does and only He can counsel you. Now, I believe God has convicted you to stand but like all of us ( myself, included) we all have a sinful carnal nature that wants to do what's easy and standing in the gap isn't easy and seems like a thankless task. I know this better than most as I have been standing for my 26 year marriage for almost four years now. It's a hard job but all I have the do is look at my 12 year old child and I know I'm doing the right thing . I was a child of adultery and divorce as was my husband. I'm standing to break the generational curses that have plagued both sides of our families through the generations so my child will never suffer as I did . Standing for our marriage is bigger than us and I believe you have been chosen to stand for your wife. Our resurrected marriages are not for our glory but The Lord's . Pray on this angel, fast a few days and ask God for His will in your marriage .

Please feel free to contact me. I will be praying for you, my brother in Christ

First and foremost thank you for taking time to reply means a lot! Yes I have a child from a previous relationship(not marriage) as well as my wife although my step daughter is not from her first husband. I grew up attending church every Sunday went to Cathecism to receive my sacraments. With that said I've always had a relationship with GOD however nothing like I do now. I've prayed more in the last 7 months then I have in my entire 37 years of existence. I'm heart broken that my wife does not reach out to me unless it's in regards to our 3 year old daughter we have together. She tells me she hasn't been this happy in a long time and I should move on as well so I can be happy. We were together 7 years and married 3.5 before separating. Our child custody case and child support case which is currently on going is just an ugly situation and although she is successful she is trying to take every penny I have. With that said I continue to pray her heart can be softened and she can have a change of heart. Sometimes the pain is hard to bear and everyone around me tells me to move on I'll be much happier but for some reason I continue to pray and stand for my marriage.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
