Yesterday our Landlord got very upset with me for spraying an insecticide. It seems as though she was upset for something else and took it out on me. The place is overgrown with grass and centipedes are always coming into our apartment. Just last week my husband killed a snake on our path.

She said that she couldn’t breathe because of the scent and when I went upstairs by her to apologize she was very harsh. When my husband came home she complained to him and told him she don’t want to see me. I felt so horrible so I went to the other tenant next door and ask her if the scent of the insecticide was high and she said no. I don’t understand why the Landlord got on like that. It bothered me cause we have an all right relationship and now it seems as though she don’t want to have anything to do with me. Lord I just ask you to intervene and let there be peace.

I TOTALLY, ABSOLUTELY 100% SYMPATHIZE WITH AND UNDERSTAND YOUR PROBLEM. THE REASON IS THAT THE BUILDING I LIVE IN IS INFESTED WITH BEDBUGS. I WAS SPRAYING "HOT SHOT" IN HERE ONCE A WEEK UNTIL THIS GUY NAMED TONY RATTED ME OUT TO THE OFFICE. HE HAS COPD, AND HE CLAIMS MY SPRAY WAS COMING FROM UNDER MY DOOR AND EFFECTING HIS BREATHING PROB. IS JOKE. TONY SPRAYS THE SAME STUFF ONCE A WEEK AND DOES NOT EVEN USE A MASK. HE JUST OPENS UP HIS WINDOWS AND LEAVES HIS APT FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS, JUST LIKE I WAS DOING. WE REALLY WERE GOOD FRIENDS, AND I DID A GREAT DEAL FOR TONY AND HIS GIRLFRIEND SUE. LOANED AND GAVE THEM MONEY, INVITED THE FOR CHRISTMAS EVE... ON AND ON. HE OF COURSE SHOULD HAVE COME TO ME IF HE WAS HAVING A PROBLEM INSTEAD OF GOING DOWNSTAIRS LIKE  A LITTLE FINK. NOW I CAN NOT SPRAY AT ALL IN HERE BECAUSE IF I DO, AND I GET CAUGHT, I COULD END UP HOMELESS. BUT GUESS WHAT? I DID END UP WITH BEDBUGS EVEN THOUGH I SPRAYED. I REPORTED THEM TO THE OFFICE. THE EXTERMINATOR CAME SEVERAL TIMES, AND I FEEL VERY REASSURED THAT SHE WILL CONTINUE TO SPRAY UP HERE EVERY TWO WEEKS IF SHE HAS TO -- GOD FORBID. AND I GOT LAST LAUGH -- I WAS PAYING FOR THAT HOT SHOT. NOW THEY HAVE TO PAY $100.00 A POP IF EXTERMINATOR COMES IN TO SPRAY. I HAVE BOUGHT AN INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH STEAMER AND PURCHASED MATTRESS ENCASEMENTS, BOXSPRING ENCASEMENTS, LIFTS FOR MY BED TO TRAP THEM IF THEY CLIMB UP, ETC. I SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY, BUT I SHOULD NEVER SUFFER A MAJJOR INFESTATION AGAIN.

OH - AND MY BIGGEST THING WITH TONY IS THIS: IF THE SMELL FROM UNDER MY DOOR WAS CAUSING HIM BREATHING PROBS, WHY DIDN'T HE JUST GET AWAY FROM MY DOOR? ALSO, I HAD INSULATION UNDER THE DOOR SO I AM SURE WAS NOT THAT BAD.

BUT BACK TO YOU -- PEOPLE ARE GETTING RIDICULOUS WITH THIS STUFF. EVEN AN UNPLEASANT SMELL THAT DOES NOT LAST LONG IS ENOUGH TO HAVE THEM SAYING THEY CAN'T BREATHE AND THAT YOU ARE KILLING THEM. MY OTHER POINT, AND IT IS A BIGGIE: YOUR LANDLADY ABSOLUTELY IS FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING YOUR DWELLING PLACE EXTERMINATED. I KNOW IT IS TOUGH THING, BUT MAYBE YOU SHOULD POINT THIS OUT TO HER. MAYBE IF SHE KNOWS YOU KNOW THAT -- YOU COULD EVEN REPORT HER TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT -- ALL OF THE SUDDEN YOUR TAKING CARE OF THE PROBLEM YOURSELF WON'T BOTHER HER DELICATE LUNGS QUITE SO MUCH. I HOPE THIS HELPS. AM PRAYING THE PESTS GO AWAY AND THAT YOUR LANDLADY WILL STOP BEING SO UNREASONABLE. AT LEAST WITH MY BEDBUG PROBLEM, I CAN GET APT SPRAYED, ETC. STILL IT HAS COST ME ALOT OF MONEY IN PREVENTATIVE MEASURES. AGAIN, I AM PRAYING VERY HARD FOR YOU I HOPE MY ADVICE CAN BE OF SOME HELP TO YOU. REMEMBER: YOU ARE HOLDING THE TRUMP CARED. IT ABSOLUTELY IS THIS WOMAN'S FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TO EXTERMINATE.

The situation took a turn for the worst. The landlord is not speaking to us. Yesterday evening when I went home I told her goodnite and she did not answer. When my husband came home he called out to her and she did not answer. I dont like how things are. I want peace and I want the Landlord to talk to us as we're renting from her. We can't operate by not speaking to each other.

This morning the Landlord gave us one (1) month's notice to move out. I can't believe that spraying insecticide could have caused this. We don't have anywhere to go. We pay $600 rent per month and the places I called this morning are asking for over $2000 per month. We cant afford this as we're trying to get approval to start our home. Presently we're still awaiting some approvals which is taking some time. God I ask you to take control over this situation, I praise you despite what is going on. Make a way for us as you promised God. My husband's family will all laugh at us. I feel guilty for spraying the insecticide but it was not done on purpose. The place is overgrown with grass, it had snakes and centipedes and they were coming in into our apartment. That's the only reason I sprayed. How can the Landlord be so unreasonable. God you just touch her and give her your wisdom for only you make a way.

 

I don't believe this is happening either,, Shanna. It is nuts, totally nuts. Don't apologize for spraying. You needed to do that. I don't want to be a "Nosy Nellie," but this is outrageous!!! Not only is this woman not living up to HER obligation to exterminate, but also she is evicting you for doing HER job. That is just stone, cold outrageous. If I were you, I would fight back. Call the health department and let them inspect that situation. Complain to whoever you can complain to about your landlady's failure to meet her obligations. Take pics of the centipedes and snakes. Would be great if you could get shot of them in your apartment. Make the biggest stink you can, complain as much as you can to whoever you can. Fight the eviction in court. Fight hard. Even if you lose, which I doubt will be the case, you will at least gain valuable stall time to find a new place to live. Really, you are in a position to take this lady down. You could make it so the court will forbid her from renting that place to anyone. Don't lay down on this and just go quietly. Your sister in Christ, Lamb.
