When we become a child of God, there is no more curse from ancestral or blood line or whatever it may be.
In Ezekiel 18 : 2- 3 and 19-20 we read
2. What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
3. As I live, saith the Lord God, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
Ezekiel 18:19-20
19. Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
20. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
But a query comes in our mind when we read
Exodus 20:5
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Here, if the following generations leave the Lord our God and follow other gods then, these verses hold true for them.
Yet another important verse which Paul has quoted in
Galatians 3:13
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
So no more curse for the children of God.
Jesus hanged on the cross to take away all our curses upon Him and when we look at the cross we become saved and released from the curses. Also He gives us peace.
Isaiah 53 :5
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Finally the death of Jesus in cross was shown as a similarity in
Numbers 21:8
8 And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
Likewise, when we look at our Jesus hanging on the cross and cleansed by His blood we too will be saved.
So, no more curse of any sort and let us not worry about it any longer.
God bless you.
