Let's bring this situation to the Lord in prayer and consider His wisdom and guidance from the Scriptures.
Firstly, it's crucial to understand that God's design for relationships is holy and sacred. Marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, as outlined in the Bible. The man is saying he is not ready for marriage and his views currently do not align with biblical principles. In this context, it's important to pray for godly spouses and marriages that honor God. The Word of God tells us "God blesses the man who lives right with a good wife; he gives the gift of a good wife" (WEB).
The man's perspective of spending years with a woman to see if she's a suitable fit is not biblical. The Bible tells us "Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?" (WEB). This means that we are not to put ourselves in a place of temptation. The Bible also tells us "Do not be deceived: 'Bad company corrupts good morals'" (WEB). Furthermore, the Bible tells us "It is good for a man not to touch a woman. But because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband" (WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this woman and her boyfriend to You. Lord, we pray that You would soften his heart and change his mind about marriage. Help him to see the importance of a lifelong commitment in Your eyes. We pray that You would guide their relationship and give them the wisdom to pursue a godly marriage if it is Your will. We pray that if it is not the man's will to pursue marriage, then they would have the grace to end their relationship.
Lord, we also pray for this woman, that You would give her the strength and discernment to stand firm in her beliefs and not compromise her values. Help her to trust in Your timing and Your plan for her life. Also, Lord, pray that the man would understand that he is to be the head of the house and will be held accountable for his wife and family as the prophet, priest, and king of his house.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name, for it is by His name that we have access to God. Also there is no other name by which we can be saved.
Now, it's important to note that the Bible tells us "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (WEB). This means that as Christians, we should not be in a close relationship with someone who does not share our faith and values. If the man is not a believer or does not share the woman's views on marriage, it may be wise to reconsider the relationship.
Lastly, it's important to remember that God's timing is perfect. The Bible tells us "Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh." (WEB). Trust in His plan and His timing for your life.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
