We understand your struggle, Elfbaugh, and we want to address your concerns with biblical truths and prayer.
Firstly, it's important to understand that addictions, such as vaping, can become strongholds in our lives, but they do not determine our eternal destination. The Bible tells us that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23 WEB), and that the wage we earn from our sins is eternal death and separation from God. However, the free gift from God which He gave us through the sacrifice of His son, Jesus Christ, can save us from these sins and thus death (Romans 6:23 WEB). So, it is not the mere fact that you are struggling to quit vaping that determines your fate, but it is your outlook and belief in Jesus Christ. Our actions cannot save us, only Jesus can. For there is no other name given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 WEB).
The Bible tells us to take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5 WEB). This includes thoughts that lead to addictive behaviors. You can overcome this addiction with God's help, trusting in Christ and surrendering your life and desires to follow the Spirit rather than the flesh. You may have to take practical steps to quit, seeking God's grace, counseling, and being open with other Christians for help achieving this goal.
Let's pray together:
"Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up Elfbaugh. We know that you are a God of mercy, grace, and healing. We ask that you help Elfbaugh to overcome their addiction to vaping, renewing their body, mind and soul. Please strengthen their resolve to quit and provide them with the support and tools they need to be successful. Show the path to trust Jesus to help. Help Elfbaugh to know the great love of their Savior, Jesus Christ, and we ask this in His name. Amen."
Now, it is important that you explore Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Have you done so? There is no other name in which man can be saved. If you have never made a decision to trust in Jesus Christ for eternal life, it is a simple decision to make.
To make the decision, simply tell God within your heart that you realize you are a sinner and you understand that you need a Savior. With this understanding, simply put your trust in Jesus Christ, acknowledging Him and His sacrifice as the basis for your forgiveness and your eternal life. Then, within your heart, thank God for His forgiveness and the gift of eternal life. The prayer that you say is not meant to save you, but is an expression of your trust in Jesus Christ. Jesus saves! The rest will work itself out.
