Though I have asked God many questions: "Why me?" has never been one of them. I credit much of that mindset to a substitute Sunday school teacher who, many, many years ago, taught his class to answer that question with this more humble question: "Why not me?" It was with that experience in mind that I have always made mention of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in my prayers. Moreover, the more I mature in Christ, I have learned to say, with a cheerful heart: "Here am I Lord, send me."
Not only can God handle our questions, He encourages us to ask. Again, regarding wisdom and knowledge, Jesus says this: "Ask, and it shall be given." Therefore, for better understanding, and to ensure that I am always being led by God, I sometimes ask, "Why this?" God's answers are not always easy on the ears; yet we incline our ears to hear. Therefore:
Though I was dealt with, with unnecessary harshness, in my own hometown; because it is my hometown, I don't want to see Houston blown off the map (as was imparted to me). Now, you can hear me, or choose not to hear me, that's your prerogative. What I do know is this: God has literally told us exactly what He will do; and has He not been doing it? He is not a man that He should lie . . .
Though God has instructed me not to pray for this people; and, He has vowed not to hear their prayers, I am certain that He will hear the contrite spirit, and sincere heart of repentance. Therefore, I say to Houston, as I said to Florida, a few years ago: Humble yourselves - get thee into thy closet and REPENT. Yet, like any good parent, God will not allow you to go completely unpunished.
Afterthought: Because of consistent low views, I sometimes feel like I'm having an intimate conversation with but a few on this WORLDWIDE WEB . But how can that be, when the reaction has been so great . . . kinda makes me wonder. Hmmmm. Wait just a minute - certainly no one would creep into this virtual house of prayer and steal other people's thoughts and prayers. Y'all know that would be a whole new level of low, for both the thief and the recipient of stolen goods. Not accusing; but, we know how God feels about robbery:
"Deception, by any other name, is still a LIE."
GOD KNOWS
