[After Jesus calmed the storm,] he asked [the disciples], "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
The disciples were absolutely terrified. "Who is this man?" they asked each other. "Even the wind and waves obey him!"
—Mark 4:40-41 NLT
Key Thought
"Who is this man?" Ah! That's the real question we need to be asking. He is more than a man, but he was fully human. He is preexistent and created all things, yet was hung on a tree that he made and killed by people whom he created. He has all power, yet withheld it and went to remove the guilt of our sins from us. Who is this man? Who do you say that this man is? Who is Jesus to you?
Today's Prayer
Holy and Almighty Father, thank you for Jesus. I know that I will never in this life fully comprehend who he is; yet for me, dear Father, he is everything. In his name, Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, and my Lord, I pray. Amen.
