Who Are You Wearing?
In the entertainment industry, reporters will often ask a celebrity 'who are you wearing?' It's an inferance to the brand of designer clothing the celebrity is sporting.
In the bible, one becomes aware of the best clothier/designer of all times.
Colossians 3:12-15
12. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
13. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
14. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
15. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
COMMENT
Apostle Paul often speaks of holy traits as something you need to wear. When one wears clothing it covers their bodies and is seen as armor or something necessary. However these holy traits are to be worn inside the body and they are much more precious than outerwear. They are traits from the fruit of the Spirit. And again we are confronted with a passage that declares Love as the most important 'innerwear'. Allegorically speaking Adam and Eve chose to remove their innerwear for outerwear; an apron made from figs and then animal skin. This outerhide have many symbolic significances, but all we need to concern ourselves with today is that they were sub-standard to Adam and Eve's innerwear.
Isn't it amazing that Adam and Eve had everything they needed with their innerwear (traits) but still wanted to be covered in something inferior.
Don't settle for an inferior line of clothing. You need to wear the fruit of the Spirit, created by the best Designer ever. Jesus stated in the book of Matthew that the condition of your heart matters the most. So wear Love Peace, Patience...
