When you ask the Lord to rid yourself of the devil and demons, is it usually a one and done thing or is it a long battle and you have to pray and pray

I've been in spiritual warfare for nearly two weeks, with doubt and fear coming down on me. I've been praying fervently to God about this and to cast out the devil and the fear, and I feel like I might be getting a little better each day, but that gnawing fear is always there, especially at night or when I'm alone.

Well, I'll tell you...you're a new believer, but you're eager to learn, asking us, and that's good. I would say mostly, God can do it quickly, in one shot, however, we read that the apostles couldn't cast out a certain demon, and asked Jesus why, and He said, this kind only comes out by prayer and fasting.So in certain cases, there might be specific circumstances.Also, when you say, "a one and done deal", the demons could be cast out in one shot , BUT if at some time in the future you "backslide"{go back to a previous sin, that opens the door to demons comning back,like an invitation, like an occult practice, that might bring them back. So they could be expelled in one shot,but it's an ongoing process keeping them out.

Some struggles last shorter, some longer. I have a struggle with the noise of my neighbours for 13 years, but some lasted 1 year or more, and some couple of days. You never know. God has some reasons why some last longer. If you have a bigger purpose, you would probably have bigger challenges then some other believers, but this will be for your growth, and strength and patience and so that your faith grows stronger, and that you one day help big amounts of people.
2 Corinthians 4:17 King James Version (KJV)
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
2 Corinthians 4:17 New Living Translation (NLT)
17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!

The more I pray and the closer I get to God the more the devil attacks. I put on the armor of God and it doesn't bother me any more. I keep reminding myself that He who is in me is greater than he who is in this world. Keep praying things will get better. Besides Jesus will be here soon. God bless you with the peace and joy of His Holy Spirit and your heart with the spirit of Jesus. Amen

I agree with all responses above. Spot on.

God recently has been teaching me about curses. You would be surprised the number of mentions of curses in the Bible and what things happen in your life that can bring on a curse. Things past generations have done, parents/teachers speak over you, etc.

I’ve found Derek Prince to be a very knowledgeable leader in this. The video below is worth a watch. Towards the end he will lead you in renouncing curses over your life - again things you never considered that could be impacting you. This has helped my family immensely. Praise be to God for delivering us from generational curses and others we brought on! He is so good!

It is not a done deal when you are under attack by satans devils all around you. Jesus knows this by experience. In the dessert for fourty days without any food. Satan tormented Him but Jesus did not listened to him nor obey what he was suggestiing. Keep on praying. Keep on fasting before the Lord. Devil will flee from you when you are in prayer. Ask your pastor along with faithful prayer partners and pray for you and start a bible study in your home. Join the choir of your church and start singing praises to the Lord. Satan cannot stand hearing songs of praise to God. Sometimes when I am in the middle of my depression, I start singing praises to God. All glory, laud and honor, to God my savior and King. I feel all kinds of devils fleeing away from me and all my depression, my fear and my worry vanish forever.

I was listening to the revelation song yesterday and I started singing and it did make me feel considerably better.
