A lot of Christians only like the "positive" parts of Scripture, and therefore invent their own God according to their estimation, rather than God's -- beware of people who want to give you a sugar pill version of what Jesus taught. They probably gave up on reading the entire Bible years ago because they came across the hard teachings of The Bible and leaned on their own understanding rather than trusting in the Lord whose ways are perfect. "Did God really say...?" was the devil's first attack to get people to deny that God really means exactly what He says (Genesis 3:1). There is no reason for the devil to change his methodology, since it works to deceive countless millions. Praying for us all to have discernment (Phil 1:9-11).

Many Disciples Turn Back because of The Difficult Parts of The Bible (John 6:59-70)
(Matthew 8:18-22; Luke 9:57-62; Luke 14:25-33)

59 "Jesus said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. 60 On hearing it, many of His disciples said, “This is a difficult teaching. Who can accept it?”
61 Aware that His disciples were grumbling about this teaching, Jesus asked them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what will happen if you see the Son of Man ascend to where He was before?
63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. 64 However, there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray Him.)
65 Then Jesus said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has granted it to him.”
66 From that time on many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him.
67 So Jesus asked the Twelve, “Do you want to leave too?”
68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God.”
70 Jesus answered them, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!” 71 He was speaking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. For although Judas was one of the Twelve, he was later to betray Jesus" (John 6:59-70).

Another thing, likely fed to them by the devil, they say is that the Biblical teachings only applied to "that generation" and God "understands " that things have changed since then. They use that, also, to "reason" why those sins are, in this age, acceptable.Verses like, "Heaven and Earth will pass away, but the Word of the Lord endureth forever" and "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tommorow,"refutes their reasoning that certain sins are now "acceptable."

Also, “All Scripture is inspired by God,” (2 Tim 3:16). It doesn’t say most Scripture, or, the parts of Scripture that fit in with a buffet-style Christianity where we pick and choose what itches our ears. It’s all about The Whole Bible — read 1 Peter, there’s tough stuff in it. Also the Parable of the Sower — why do they fall away? “Because of The Word of God” (Mark 4).

Jesus is the Messiah sent by God. I believe it with my whole heart.
Jesus said, "If you continue in My teaching, you are truly my disciples, and you shall be knowing the truth, and the truth shall be making you free" (John 8:31, Literal Greek Translation).

2 John 1:9
"Anyone who runs ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God. Whoever remains in His teaching has both the Father and the Son."
