Anointing: An individual or object set apart for divine use; God empowered to accomplish tasks.1 "But you have the anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know
the truth" (1 John 2:20).
God is no respecter of persons, thus every Christian has the capacity to be anointed for God's purpose. What is the anointing of God? It is joy, passion, power, glory,
confidence, boldness and authority. It makes you cry and it makes you laugh. It gives you righteous indignation. It comes quickly, and it takes time. It is meek and it is strong.2
The Lord's anointing can come upon us during sickness and during health, the pain of a divorce or separation, failed relationships, the death of a loved one, intense or
subtle spiritual warfare, failed finances, and test and trials. All of these will bring us to a more personal relationship with God and the knowledge of HIs Will and Word. God's
anointing, within us and upon us, will flow through us when God desires to touch another's heart through your heart. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them, as we walk in the anointing of God we go where God wills, do what God wills, and say what God wills"
(Ephesians 2:10). Through all these experiences, trials and tests, the Lord will use us to minister to others going through the same trails as we did, by His anointing. "No temptation
has overcome you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of
escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). An anointing is the use of one of God's children for the establishing of His kingdom, what God is doing in us and through us, for His purpose and glory. With His anointing, He will lead us to witness to others, fervent prayer for one another, and experience His glory through His healings,
miracles, and interventions.
The anointing of God, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, can be hindered if the people meant to receive it, refuse it, from the person that God is sending it through. Refusal is
more than just saying "no". It is also unforgiveness, un-repented sin, pride, envy, hate, and every other act, attitude and belief contrary to the Word and Will of God. The anointing of God will not necessarily be seen within us as it is intended for God's glory, not ours. It is His works through us for the benefit of another. God enables, empowers, and entrusts
us in accomplishing His Will.
"And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you, but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him" (1 John 2:27). Hopefully, we will all be able to live for God, trust in Him, love Him, pray to Him and to live in His peace, joy and hope.
