This is not just a curiosity question, but I have actually been in this situation a few times. We[believers} pay a call on the survivors of a{by all indications}unsaved person, and the survivor, being unsaved themselves, state,"I "know" she{persons mother,etc.} is in a better place now.{They likely say that to comfort themselves,make themselves feel better.}But we, as believers, know that, if the person died unsaved, they are NOT in a better place.Now, here's the thing--we, as Christians, are to"rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those that mourn." {Also, to give comfort}. Now, it wouldn't be very "comforting" ,when someone says that , to blurt out,"Look, your loved one is {likely, barring a deathbed confession}in Hell, and headed to the Lake of Fire to be tormented forever and ever."It sounds insensitive for a "loving Christian" to say it that way. On the other hand, though, we can't agree to a lie. If they believe a lie, the Bible also says don't lie, so we can't very well just lie to them for comfort and say, "Yes, your loved one who {likely} died unsaved is in Heaven.The Bible is wrong."We don't want to agree with a lie. SOOO....wisdom--how do we get the balance,the loving spirit, yet not lying to comfort them?So far, I pretty much was just like, said nothing, but figured ,leave it up to God.What would you do?{Remember, I'm not the one bringing up the subject, it's them.}
TELL THE TRUTH LIKE THE WAY IT IS - THE TRUTH.
We are all human we have emotions and I understand what you meant. But you must remember that if you truly loves someone you would do anything to protect your loved ones even though if the truth hurts.
Proverbs 23:13-14 KJV
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
Did you know that your faith is also been tested in similar circumstance, you're holding the truth been told by letting your emotions in a way which is understandable form human perspective but it is not right in God's eyes.
If you truly born again Christian and a beliver of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You won't be offended in such circumstance in voicing the truth and not withholding your spirit from speaking the truth when you know it's not right but at the same time you got that feelings issue.
Remember Matthew 16:24-25 KJV
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
The emphasis here "DENY HIMSELF" it's not according to your human emotions but let God's word speak the way as it is - the TRUTH.
You are no longer living for yourself but you're living for Christ in your human flesh. Everything else is secondary but Jesus is first in everything in your life that's even mean emotions, so just live according to the bible.
Read: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
For such situation the best way, bring it God through prayer. Pray about it and read the bible.
Than talk to your local pastor if it's really bothers you alot.
Prayer and fasting helps, pray for God to give you the Spirit of Wisdom and the Spirit of God will lead you to the answers you seek.
My take on this circumstance is: - I'll put it in this perspective to give a bit clarity.
When I am face with a life threating health concerns, we must not be ashamed to get medical advise or consultation regarding our health from Doctors. Going to doctors doesn't mean you're jeopardise your faith in God - this is totally wrong kind of mentality.
In such circumstance it's alright to been more towards on emotional Intellegent but remember the message of salvation the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
When it's the right the time, than approach those family members who are not save and lead them to the bible.
Remember the privillage given to us mankind - "PRAYER" . Alot prayer on your part is needed, if you're serious about it. Fasting and prayer really helps. Ask those relatives of yours/ friends to accompany to church on Sundays.
God will give the answer you seek. Pray about it.
Matthew 7:7-8 KJV
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
