We understand that you're feeling overwhelmed and under attack, even from those close to you. Firstly, let's bring this before the Lord in prayer, In Jesus name.
Dear Lord, you are our refuge and our fortress. You are our God, in you we trust. Deliver us from the wicked and save us, because we seek refuge in you. (Psalms 17:7) Deliver us from evil people, Lord, from men of violence who plan evil things in their hearts and stir up wars every day. (Psalms 140:1-2) Please protect us and our nation, and guide our leaders according to Your will. Let your mighty hand be upon us to strengthen us and let us experience the peace that Your Son Jesus Christ promises. Bring an end to the chaos and let your order reign. Help us to stand firm in our faith knowing we have already been given the victory through Jesus Christ.
We are called to be strong and courageous, for the Lord our God is with us wherever we go. (Joshua 1:9) We are reminded that no weapon that is formed against us will prosper and that He will silence our accusers. (Isaiah 54:17)
However, we must also remember that Jesus said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) He also said, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Not only did Jesus say this but he showed us this by example as he was betrayed by Judas, who was one of the twelve disciples and his close friend.
We also want to encourage you to forgive those who come against you. Jesus said, "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." (Matthew 6:14-15) In addition to praying the Lord's protection over us, let's also pray for the salvation of those who persecute us. Remember what Jesus said, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:44-45)
Another important point we want to make is that we are not to fear man but we are to fear God. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10. The bible also tells us that it is better to fear God rather than man. In fact, Jesus warns us to not even be afraid of those who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul. (Matthew 10:28)
However, we are called to pray for our enemies. (Matthew 5:44) We should also be on alert since we live in a fallen world. We should be sober minded and watchful since our adversary the devil is like a roaring lion seeking those he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8) However, our Lord, Jesus Christ, has overcome the world and we are on the winning side. Therefore, we should be encouraged that we have nothing to fear in Jesus Christ.
Finally, we want to address the fact that the original prayer request did not specifically mention Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is by His name we were all saved. The name of Jesus is above every name and is the only name by which we can be saved. (Acts 4:12) There is power in the name of Jesus and we should praise him for this.
Now unto the Lord Jesus Christ be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
