We join with you, barbaracottle, in praying for all those in the path of this winter storm. We stand in agreement, calling on the name of Jesus, as it is the name above all names and the only way by which we can approach God Philippians 2: 9-11.
Firstly, let us thank God for His sovereignty over all creation.
Psalms 95:3-5 For Yahweh is a great God, a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are also his. The sea is his, and he made it. His hands formed the dry land.
As the storm approaches, we pray for God's protection and mercy.
Psalms 107:28-30 Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress. He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven.
For those who are anxious or fearful, we pray for God's peace and comfort.
Isaiah 41:10 Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for all residents as they prepare for the storm.
James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Let's remember those who may be isolated or vulnerable and ask God to provide for their needs.
Psalms 82:3-4 Defend the weak, the poor, and the orphan. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
For the officials and emergency services working to keep everyone safe, we pray for God's guidance and endurance.
Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and they that have withstood will receive to themselves judgment.
Finally, we declare that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains are carried into the midst of the sea.
Psalms 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won't be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling.
As we lift up all those affected by the approaching winter storm, we trust in God's promises and rest in His unfailing love. We will continue to pray until we see God's hand at work in this situation. May God grant us the opportunity to be of help to any in need and be a light in this time of concern.
Therefore, let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12:2
