**Prayer Updates!** Then the Angel showed [John] Water-of-Life River, crystal bright. It flowed from the Throne of God and the Lamb, right down the middle of the street. The Tree of Life was planted on each side of the River, producing twelve kinds of fruit, a ripe fruit each month. The leaves of the Tree are for healing the nations.

The water of life that Jesus promised to us as believers and followers is now seen in a different way in heaven. For us on earth, the Holy Spirit is this water for those who are Jesus' true followers, and it flows into them and then from within them. It brings life and refreshment and hope. In heaven, this water is freely flowing down the middle of the street. Life is available in the middle (from the Water-of-Life River) and on either side (from the Tree of Life). This imagery helps us understand the purpose of the Holy Spirit in us as living water. The Spirit brings life. The Spirit brings us the foretaste of the life that God has for us in heaven. The Spirit brings us refreshment and strength to sustain our lives until we can go home to be with the Father and enjoy life in abundance, all around us!
O God, sustain my life, empower my spirit, and refresh my soul by the power of your Holy Spirit until I come home to you and enjoy life in all of its fullness. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
