Imagine you are walking across a bridge. You are afraid of heights, and it is very high above the water....say 100 feet. You are paralyzed with fear and someone says to you, "Trust me. It'll be OK. I will be here with you and help you across. Hold the rail, and just walk forward one step at a time. Keep your eyes on me.....Don't look down..Don't look around. Look at my eyes, and walk until you reach me."
Isn't this what God asks us to do? When we have to go through a really hard time; a period of adversity, financial troubles, marriage problems, job problems...serious problems. We must put our faith in the Lord and wait on Him. He may not answer in the way we expect, or in the time we expect. In fact He usually does not. Other people, well meaning people, even Christian people, will say "Well, you need to be doing something. Don't just pray." Waiting on the Lord DOES NOT mean do everything in your power (making sure to keep the Lord updated) and then when you totally run out of ideas, you say to God, "Can you do anything?" But this is what we all do. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off of God. When you turn your head right or left, and listen to the world...your family, and friends, all of the well-meaning people who tell you, :It can't be done that way." It's impossible. It'll never happen. Cut your losses and move on, etc." Until you can stay in faith, and cut yourself off from the world, you will never see the miracles of God. To ask God if He CAN do something is blasphemy. Of course He can. He is the Almighty. The question is actually, "Will He?" Will you let Him ? Can you walk along in faith, and say "I will trust the Lord." The Lord can and will do miracles in our lives, when we keep our eyes on Him, and the more we keep our eyes on Him, the more we will see.
He doesn't need to worry about things like red tape. He can and does maneuver events in a way that is humanly impossible. I applied for a job once that God prompted me to call for. I literally walked in off the street and was hired much to my surprise. I found out later that there were 400 applicants for this job. Someone said to me, "How could you possibly have gotten that job. Who did you know to get in there?" and I replied, " I know God. He can get you in anywhere." So remember this the next time you're in seemingly impossible circumstances. God can get you in anywhere.
