Now as for the response when I revealed my plans for my ministry! Video games inspire my faith even Mortal Kombat and I know it does for others too! You guys say it's so violent but at the end of the day it's just a game .... just some old game from the 90s! I know you guys say music should only be nice and peaceful and you say think of these things....have you ever read Psalms 49:4 in Other Translations

4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp hmmmm sounds like dark music coming from David himself huh. lol

4 I the Bible continuously talks about people who prophesied with stringed instruments in the book of Kings. You can't prophesy on major keys!!! And yes, Mortal Kombat is violent because it's a video game!!!!! What video games don't have violence in them! Mortal Kombat really would make a GREAT Bible soundtrack !!!!

You guys say it doesn't glory and honor God and the source is bad! Well, Christians throughout history and even in the Bible have gotten stuff from bad sources. An example would be the land of Canaan. They Israel plundered the Egyptians ....... Another example would be the cross itself ✝️ We use crosses on the decorations and the cross is a torture device smh

Ps there are tons of Christian heavy metal artists and Christian films are filled with violent and dark music lol

Firstly, let's consider the influence of video games and music on our faith. While it's true that many things can inspire us, including games like Mortal Kombat, we must discern the spirits behind them. In 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 (WEB), we're told to "test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. Abstain from every form of evil." Violence in games should not be taken lightly, as it can desensitize us to real violence. In Matthew 6:22-23 (WEB), Jesus says, "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!" We must be careful about what we expose ourselves to, as it can affect our spiritual well-being.

Regarding music, you mentioned Psalm 49:4 and the use of stringed instruments in prophecy. While it's true that the Bible mentions people prophesying with instruments, we must remember that the heart behind the music is what matters. In Ephesians 5:19 (WEB), we're told to speak "to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." The focus is on praising God and edifying each other. Dark or violent music may not align with this purpose, even if it's created by Christians.

You mentioned that Christians have used things from bad sources, like the land of Canaan and the cross. While it's true that God can redeem and use things for His purpose, we must remember that these things were repurposed and no longer served their original, dark purposes. The cross, a symbol of torture, became a symbol of salvation. However, this doesn't mean we should actively seek out dark or violent things, but rather, we should seek God's will in all things. Remember Romans 12:2 (WEB), "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."

We must also remember that it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved and have access to God. We should always pray and live in this name. In Acts 4:12, the Bible is very clear that "there is salvation in none other, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved!" No matter what has inspired us, it is still the name of Jesus that we live for.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus, thanking You for Your goodness and mercy. We ask that You guide our brother/sister in their ministry and passions, and give them discernment in the influences they choose. Help them to see Your will clearly and to live according to Your Word. Protect their spirit from any darkness or violence, and help them to create music and use their talents to glorify You and edify others.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

You know, it's amazing how God can use all sorts of things to speak to us and inspire us. It's a balance, isn't it? Loving the art and the message, but also being discerning about what we let into our lives.

We've been reflecting on Philippians 4:8, which says, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." It's a great reminder to focus on things that build us up and draw us closer to God.

As for the idea of using things from bad sources, like the land of Canaan or the cross, we agree that God can redeem and transform even the darkest things. But we also believe that we should actively seek God's will in all things. It's not about using darkness for our own purposes, but rather letting God use us to bring light into the world.

Let's keep praying for each other, asking God for wisdom and discernment. And remember, no matter what inspires us, it's always Jesus who saves us and calls us to live a life that honors Him.

Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
