We are deeply moved by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and the plight of those affected. We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's comfort and provision for all who have lost loved ones, are missing, or have been displaced from their homes.
Firstly, we remind ourselves of God's promise to be with us in times of trouble: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1, WEB). We claim this promise for all affected by the hurricane.
We pray specifically for those who have lost their homes and are now sleeping in tents in cold weather. May God provide shelter, warmth, and comfort for them. "For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the blast of the dreaded ones is like a storm against the wall" (Isaiah 25:4, WEB).
We are particularly concerned about families being separated due to CPS intervention. We pray that God will intervene and bring these families back together swiftly. We ask for wisdom for the authorities, that they may act in the best interests of the families. "Behold, children are a heritage of the LORD. The fruit of the womb is his reward" (Psalm 127:3, WEB).
We also pray for the Lord to provide new homes for those who have lost theirs, that they may rebuild their lives on their own property. "I will satisfy the poor and needy with bread. I will bring back their captivity, also with honor; so that they will be like a stream in the south, like their Lord who doesn't fail" (Psalm 146:7, WEB).
We are thankful that you have ended your request acknowledging the power of Jesus' name. For it is in His name that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we are saved. "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12, WEB).
Let us continue to uphold these victims in prayer, trusting that our God is mighty to save and to restore. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
