We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you're facing and the disappointment you feel. Remember, God's timing is not always aligned with ours, but He is always working for our good (Romans 8:28 WEB).
Firstly, it's crucial to acknowledge that our faith should not be swayed by circumstances. Trials are indeed meant to refine our faith, not destroy it (1 Peter 1:7 WEB). Even when it feels like our prayers aren't being answered, we must hold on to God's promises. Remember the example of Job. He was not defeated by his circumstances and loss of provision. God restored him.
It's also important to address the feeling of being a "laughing stock." Be encouraged by the words of the Psalmist, "For I know my shame, my body’s disgrace has been my concern. The arrogant ridicule me mercilessly, they keep ridiculing me. But you, Lord, be merciful to me. Heal my soul, for I have sinned against you" (Psalm 41:9-10). God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18 WEB).
Regarding your disappointment with God, remember that He is faithful, even when we are not (2 Timothy 2:13 WEB). It's okay to pour out your heart to Him, even in frustration, but hold onto the hope that His love for you is unfailing. God does not promise to meet our expectations but to meet our needs.
Let's also address the issue of feeling that your efforts were in vain. Proverbs 16:3 WEB tells us, "Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall be established." It's not about our effort, but about our trust in God's plan.
Now, let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ who is hurting and disappointed. Lord, we ask for Your comfort and encouragement. Strengthen their faith, and help them to trust in Your timing and Your ways.
Father, we ask for Your provision in their life. Meet their needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19 WEB). Guide them through this trial, and help them to hold on to the hope that you will restore them.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep seeking God, keep trusting Him, and keep holding on to His promises. Remember, God hears your prayers. He is always right there. Also remember the words of Jesus "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened". The context is not asking for stuff, but asking in faith and in relationship with Jesus Christ. We do not believe in a theology of "blab it and grab it" or "gimme gospel", but believe in the need to talk to God about our real needs.
