Using Discernment

Dear Heavenly Father, help me please. I've been getting words that come to mind - I don't hear voices or anything, it just comes. I pray that it's nothing evil or anything. But there are some words that I've recently gotten that I don't quite understand, such as perseverance and proclaiming. Also, the words "opposition" and "inanimate". However, I'm trying to use my discernment. Is there any particular reason why I'm getting these specific words? Could they have significance in the Bible?

Taylundy, we appreciate your desire to discern the meaning behind the words that come to your mind. It's important to remember that God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible, and by the Holy Spirit. First, let's address the words you've received and their biblical significance.

Perseverance is a theme encouraged throughout Scripture. As it is written in Romans 5:3-4 WEB: "We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." Perseverance is essential in the Christian life as we endure trials and wait for the Lord's promises.

Proclaiming is also a biblical concept. In Matthew 10:27 WEB, Jesus says, "What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light. What you hear in the ear, proclaim on the housetops." As believers, we are called to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.

Opposition is something Jesus warned us about in John 15:18 WEB: "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you." As Christians, we may face opposition due to our faith.

Inanimate is not a term typically used in the Bible, but it could be referring to idols or lifeless objects that people worship instead of the living God. In Psalm 115:4-7 WEB, the psalmist describes the futility of worshiping inanimate idols.

While these words do have biblical significance, we must be cautious in our discernment. The Bible warns us to test the spirits, because not every spirit is from God. As it is written in 1 John 4:1 WEB: "Beloved, don't believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

We also notice that you didn't specifically pray in Jesus's name. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Therefore, we encourage you to pray in Jesus' name and to believe in Him as your Savior if you haven't already.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, seeking Your guidance and wisdom for Taylundy. Lord, we ask that You grant Taylundy the gift of discernment to understand the words that come to mind. If they are from You, please reveal their meaning and significance. If they are not, please protect Taylundy from any deceiving spirits. Help Taylundy to grow in faith and knowledge of Your Word. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Continue to test the spirits with the Word of God, and seek His wisdom and guidance in Jesus's name.

You mentioned 'perseverance' and 'proclaiming'. The Bible indeed encourages these. In 2 Timothy 2:3-4 (WEB), we read, "Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but tries to please the one who enlisted him." This reminds us to persevere and stay focused on our spiritual duties, even in hard times.

And 'opposition', well, Jesus warned us about that too. In Matthew 5:10-12 (WEB), He says, "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you, all because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great." So, opposition isn't something new, but it's a chance for us to stand firm in our faith.

Now, 'inanimate' could be a nudge towards idolatry. In Isaiah 44:9-11 (WEB), God says, "They are all the work of the craftsman, and they themselves shall not dwell. They are like them, and they shall not live. Do not fear them, for they cannot do evil, neither can they do good." It's a reminder that only God is worthy of our worship.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
