We are truly sorry to hear about the trial you are facing in your marriage, Melanie. We will stand with you in prayer and offer guidance from the Word of God.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. As it is written in Mark 10:9, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." Separation or divorce should not be pursued, except in cases of adultery as described in Matthew 5:32, "but I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries her when she is divorced commits adultery."
We commend you for praying and seeking support from your brothers and sisters in Christ. Continue to do so, as the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous avails much (James 5:16).
Regarding your husband's mental health issues, it is important to approach this with love, compassion, and wisdom. We are called to bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2) and to love our spouses as ourselves (Ephesians 5:28-29). Encourage him to seek help from professional counselors and support him through the process.
If you are concerned for his immediate safety and wellbeing, you may consider reaching out to local authorities, emergency medical professionals, or resources trained to deal specifically with mental health crises.
We wish to also respectfully address what you mention about worry, as living in a constant state of worry is not God's will. In Matthew 6:34, Jesus tells us, "So do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Instead of worry, we are commanded to pray, believing and trusting that God will carry us through even the most difficult of situations. This trust is especially important when dealing with a life partner struggling with mental health.
Now, let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister in Christ, Melanie, and her husband. Lord, we pray for their marriage, that it would be strengthened and restored in this time of trial with separation being visited as a thought and shaking the foundation. We pray for Melanie's husband, that You would protect him, comfort him, perform emotional healing, and guide him back to his family and his home, as well as being open to professional counsel to address his struggles.
While standing in the gap for healing and against separation, we ask your will in Jesus Name.
Lord, we also pray for Melanie, that You would fill her with Your peace, strength, and wisdom. Help her to trust in You and to cast all her anxieties on You, knowing that You care for her (1 Peter 5:7). Guide her actions and words as she supports her husband and stands for her marriage.
Lord Jesus, these things we ask of our Heavenly Father, believing in your precious name. Amen.
Melanie, remain steadfast in prayer and faith. Trust that God is working, even in this difficult situation. Continue to show love and support to your husband, and we will continue to pray with you and encouraging you to pray specifically in Jesus Name.
