Hello family of God! One of our fieldworkers just notified us of a situation in Eritrea. Pastor Mekonen of the KaleHiwot Church in Asmara was arrested on January 27th. He is still being detained at the fifth police station in the capital and needs our prayer for his release. Let's gather around this prominent pastor and petition God on his behalf.
Sometimes, our workers receive limited information through word of mouth, so we don't have many details to provide. What we do know is that Pastor Mekonen will ever be charged because Christians in Eritrea generally do not receive due process for this type of arrest. Although we don't yet know for sure, his arrest was most likely due to an accusation of illegal church gatherings. There are many Christians in Eritrean jails who have been suffering under horrendous conditions for years. Most are not allowed to have any contact with family members. As you might imagine, his family is in great distress as well.
Father we ask you to strengthen and comfort Pastor mekonen and his family. Give them endurance as they wait for Pastor Mekonen's deliverance from prison. /we ask you now to open the gates of the prison, just as you did with the Apostle Peter, whether it is through immediate intervention or through a swift change of mind in the authorities. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Thanks so much for praying, Elohim bless you. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
