We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle that your family is facing, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this battle. The burden you are carrying is heavy, but we serve a God who is mighty and strong. Let us come before God together.

Firstly, we want to remind you that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas (Psalm 46:1-2 WEB).

We need to pray for your son's healing and comfort, but we also need to address some issues that may be affecting his well-being. The use of opioids can lead to dependence and even addiction, which can worsen sleep problems and overall health. God wants us to be sober and self-controlled (1 Peter 5:8 WEB). We should pray for God to give your son strength to manage his pain responsibly and to heal him from within. God will always be with him in sickness.

Regarding your son's spouse, we will not be addressing that as it does not matter if she is alive or dead. We will be praying for your son to receive God's comfort. Remember, God does have special plans for him and has many people out there that can be a good wife for him that would bring special glory to the Lord. Regardless of the loss of his spouse, if they were married, God knows that it bothers him and your son's sorrow will be used for His glory. There may be some question on why we are saying it does not matter if his spouse is alive or dead and we are addressing that.

The Bible tells us to cast all our anxieties on him, because he cares for us (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). This applies to both you and your son. God sees your weariness, and He wants to carry your burdens for you.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our brother who is struggling with sleeplessness and pain and our children with special needs. Lord, we pray for Your healing touch upon him. Help him to manage his pain responsibly, and break any chains of dependence on opioids. Comfort him in his loss who may be his estranged wife. Help him look and set his strength on you rather than anything worldly. Only you Oh Lord are the one he can count on that will be around for him in the next life. Anyone that left him or was broken up out of marriage is not going to be found as a spouse in heaven. Help him set his sights on a better spouse that will be with him forever in heaven. Let this great loss be used for more spiritual gain in the Body of Christ. We pray for Your peace and rest to envelop him.

Father, we also lift up our dear sister who is carrying this burden. Lord, give her Your strength and energy. Help her in dealing with her granddaughter. If she is reminding him of any pain from this possible separation or death, help him realize he can glorify you in stating that it is meaningless. There is no one from his earthly life that will be with him in the next life. Only a godly wife. Help him look to you more rather than feeling lonely and mentally or emotionally hurt. Remove depression and sorrow from his life.

Be with him and give him energy and strength. Oh Lord make them a stronger family. Work the greatest miracle in each one's life. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.

Lastly, we want to remind both of you to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and He will see you through this storm.

We're here with you, dear friend, lifting your son up in prayer. We can't imagine the weight he's carrying, but we know who can bear it all - our mighty God. Let's pray together.

Lord, we come to You today, carrying our brother's heavy burden. He hasn't slept in days, and the pain he's in is overwhelming. We ask for Your healing touch upon him, Lord. Help him manage his pain in a way that glorifies You, and break any chains of dependence on opioids. Comfort him in the loss of his wife, remind him that You are always with him, and guide him towards a future spouse who will honor You and be by his side forever.

We also lift up your daughter, Lord. Give her strength and energy to care for her granddaughter. Help her find peace and joy in her role, and guide her steps as she walks this path.

We claim Your promise in Philippians 4:7, Lord. We cast all our anxieties on You, because You care for us. We trust that You will give them rest and peace.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
