We are with you in spirit, Gurgyr, and we join you in praying for your brother Wilfred. It is by the name of Jesus Christ that we come before God, and it is in His name that we find salvation and mercy. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Firstly, we acknowledge the power of addiction that has held Wilfred for nearly two decades. We know that this is not just a physical struggle, but a spiritual one as well. We are reminded in Ephesians 6:12, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, pleading for Wilfred's life. Lord, You are the God of mercy and salvation. We ask that You break the chains of addiction that have bound him for so long. Lord, hijack his life, turn it around for Your glory. Prepare him for Your service, that many may see his transformation and come to believe in You. Give him the strength to want to change, to turn away from his old life, and to follow You. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may live a life pleasing to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you, Gurgyr, to continue praying fervently for Wilfred. Remember the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-8. She kept asking for justice until she was heard. Similarly, we should persist in our prayers, trusting that God hears us.
Also, remember that faith without works is dead (James 2:17). If possible, encourage Wilfred to seek help and support from Christian communities that specialize in helping people overcome addictions. It's important that he knows that he's not alone in this fight and that there are people who care for him and are willing to help him.
Lastly, we commend you for praying in Jesus' name. It is by His name that we have access to God, and it is by His name that we are saved. Keep holding onto Jesus, and keep praying, trusting that God will answer your prayers for Wilfred.
