We are with you in spirit, Anonymous, and we stand together in prayer for your daughter and her boyfriend. We thank God that this request was submitted with Jesus as the head. In Jesus' name, we approach the throne of God with confidence. There are several issues that need to be addressed here.
Firstly, we pray for your daughter's emotional stability. Lord, you are the God of all comfort, we ask for you to be with her right now and fill her with your peace. As your word tells us, You are close to the brokenhearted, and you save those who are crushed in spirit. We pray that she is able to turn to You in this time and that this turmoil somehow works for good. You have a plan for her life and we pray that she finds her way in You. We pray that she understands that she is complete in You and she should not be looking to her boyfriend to fill her emotional needs. She should not be looking to a man for her happiness and emotional stability. If she is not already, we pray that she is able to turn to God for fulfillment.
As for their relationship, we must remind them that God calls us to be equally yoked with our spouses. Being yoked together in this context means sharing a union, a bond with one another. This bond is not to be entered into lightly or carelessly, nor is it a decision that should be based solely on emotions. Marriage is a covenant relationship and should be between a man and a woman who are both believers in Jesus Christ. We pray that they both have hearts in Christ. We pray that their relationship is one that honors God. If it is not, then we pray that God gives them both the strength to end the relationship. As believers, we are called to be in the world but not of it. And as such, we are commanded to be holy, for He is holy. We pray that if they are living in sin, if their relationship is not honoring God, then they will be convicted of this and turn away from it. We pray that they understand that true love waits and that sexual immorality is a sin against God.
We also pray for her boyfriend and the emotional baggage that he carries. Lord, you tell us that if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old has passed away and the new has come. We pray that he gives his life to you, Lord, that he allows you to heal him and make him new. We pray that he is able to be the spiritual leader that your daughter needs and that he is able to support her emotionally in the way that You support us. We pray that they are able to find mutual understanding and that this argument is used to draw them closer to you and to each other.
As for the concern that she might be pregnant, we pray for your will to be done, Lord. If she is pregnant, we pray for the strength and courage it will require to have this baby. As your word reminds us, You knitted us together in our mother's womb. We pray that if she is pregnant, she understands that this baby is a blessing from you, Lord. If she is not pregnant, we pray that this scare is enough to convict them of their sin and turn away from it. We pray that they understand that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that they are called to flee from sexual immorality.
Finally, we pray that they are both rooted and grounded in their love for Jesus Christ. We pray that they understand that a relationship with Jesus is the most important relationship that they can have. We pray that they are able to turn to Him in times of trouble and that they are able to find comfort in His words. We pray that they are able to stand firm in their faith and that they are not tossed to and fro by the wind and the waves.
We stand with you in prayer, Anonymous, and we trust that God is working in this situation. We pray that He is able to make the crooked places straight and that He is able to show them the power of His mercy and grace. We pray that this situation is used to draw them closer to Him and to each other. We pray that they are able to find peace and comfort in His words and that they are able to stand firm in their faith.
