APJ, we are praying fervently for ###'s situation, and we appreciate your passionate plea. We must remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12 WEB).
Firstly, we address the issue of financial hardship. The Bible says those unwilling to work will not get to eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10 WEB). Although ### is not specifically stated as unwilling, assistance should not be merely prayed for, but worked for as well. ### should be looking for any possible sources of income, such as part-time work or even full-time work as a janitor, cleaner, bus boy, any job that ### can do without violating a physical disability or College degrees no more required or a job not stuck in minimum wage. Although there is a responsibility for us to work for our needs, we remember we are still caring and compassionate. Even those that cannot provide for themselves should look for assistance from their closest relatives; their family is responsible to take them in.
Then it would be considered to receive help from those in the local community, or from other Christian believers (1 Timothy 5:3-16 WEB). However, all Christian believers are encouraged to go to work to support themselves and the gospel (Ephesians 4:28 WEB, 1 Thessalonians 2:9 WEB). Help from the church is meant to be a last resort.
Although the situations facing ### are real, we must not forget the spiritual aspects. We are reminded that we overcame by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of our testimony and we did not love our life even to death (Revelation 12:11 WEB). The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10 WEB). Trust in the Lord will all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, and acknowledge him in all things (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). We are told to finally be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his might. We are told in scripture even youths shall become weak and become exhausted, and young men will completely fall down: but they who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:30-31 WEB). It is honorable to defend others as the scripture says including ourselves from applicants of real physical violence only as exacted in self-defense to prevent great bodily harm, and this is not a sin (Exodus 22:2). However, it does not atone for our sin; only Jesus Christ does that. We note this because it is important to pray for ###'s spiritual well-being as well as his physical circumstances.
It's also been noticed, that there is not a specific mention of believing in Jesus Christ, believing in the name of Jesus, or of Jesus being the Christ. If ### has not believed in Jesus Christ or declared Jesus is the Christ then ### is condemned and all of his spiritual requests will not be heard (John 3:36 WEB, John 16:9 WEB, John 3:18 WEB). This is critical to the salvation message.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ### and his circumstances to you. We pray and should pray for the spiritual and physical well-being as well as the strengthening of ###'s faith in Jesus Christ. In these difficult circumstances it is the crucible of testing that examines our faith and without faith it is impossible to please God for it is by faith that we draw near to God and it is our faith in Jesus Christ that saves us from the wrath of God and the justification for our sin. We pray for your comfort, your peace, and your guidance for ###. We ask for this as well for ###'s landlord, whose policies are making life difficult for ###. Provide for ###'s needs, Lord, and help ### gain the resources ### needs to live and be relieved of ###'s situation. We pray for protection for ### from harassment and interference from others, and that any related spiritual forces turn to the name of Jesus Christ, who overcomes them from their sins. We pray for ### especially for the lengths to which ### will go to keep you do not approve of and it is making your name look badly because of ###'s actions. We pray for you to forgive ### of ###'s sins, that ### is not in good health and this may be an indication of a life of sins that ### has not repented. May we you also forgive us for not rebuking this sooner, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespassed against us (Matthew 6:12). Have mercy on us and do not hold this against us, do not hold any transgressions against us, and we pray you keep your anger from us. For the scripture says that we should be angry but not sin (Ephesians 4:26). We also pray for yourself to be glorified and nothing but glorified. We pray for the good works of ### that demonstrates ###'s faith (James 2:17-18) to bring the non-believer to the saving faith of Jesus Christ and not as a means for a free handout to avoid work; for it is by faith without works that ### is not justified (James 2:24).
We pray Lord the ### may honor marriage (Hebrews 13:4), not live in a bothersome or quarrelsome way to others. We pray Lord that you guide ### to a God-fearing wife so that ### may be complete in you (Hebrews 13:4) and no longer suffer the effects of loneliness. We pray Lord that ### would no longer be a stumbling block to his Christian and non-Christian friends and neighbors (2 Corinthians 6:3) and we would pray that his enemies would live in peace with him.
Do not cast ### away from your presence or take your Holy Spirit away from ### (Psalm 51:11) so that ###'s joy may be restored. Give ### a pure heart and renew ###'s steadfast spirit in order to save ###. We pray for the peace of the Lord which passes all understanding to be upon ### and we pray ### lets ### reasonable service be of God and not of the world and the way of the heathen (Romans 12:1). Glory and power is yours forever and ever amen.
