I give thanks for my Caucasian brother "from another mother" that blessed me last night. He probably thought I was a nuts because when he said he was a local, I kinda got emotional. Still, I have to give him props for having the courage to go against the crowd. Because of faith and works his blessings shall be great.
The rebellion here is thick y'all. It's amazingly disappointing that even in this day, so many can be so absolutely united in err. Yet, because the Word has borne witness to the same, it is no great shock.
Charitable and governmental services are a city's reasonable service, but when God's messengers are rejected and thrown out, and those services are withheld or withdrawn, it doesn't matter how many cups of cold water are given, the city comes under God's judgement because they have rejected Him. Check the Word – when you reject His servants, you reject Him.
Luke 4:24-30 I tell you this,” Jesus added, “prophets are never welcomed in their hometown. Listen to me: it is true that there were many widows in Israel during the time of Elijah, when there was no rain for three and a half years and a severe famine spread throughout the whole land. Yet Elijah was not sent to anyone in Israel, but only to a widow living in Zarephath in the territory of Sidon. And there were many people suffering from a dreaded skin disease who lived in Israel during the time of the prophet Elisha; yet not one of them was healed, but only Naaman the Syrian.” When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were filled with anger. They rose up, dragged Jesus out of town, and took him to the top of the hill on which their town was built. They meant to throw him over the cliff, but he walked through the middle of the crowd and went his way.
Healing and miracle powers are still bestowed on Jesus's disciples, the record bears witness. But, just like in Nazareth, this city, though still seeking to manipulate it, regard it as evil. Jesus only healed a few and didn't perform many other miracles in His hometown because of their disbelief. They mistreated Him, and labeled Him "evil" and "false prophet."
It was then, and is now, the city's attitude that needs adjusting. Amen
