Threoport

Disciple of Prayer
My boyfriend and I have made a series of poor choices. We know better. We will correct ourselves and then repeat poor behavior again. The consequences of our actions build on each other. It creates a snowball effect. We want to stop making bad decisions and begin to unroll our mess. In prayer we ask for guidance. Where do we start? Where do we go? Who do we trust? What path is best? We are begging our father to show us his will.

Let's begin by acknowledging the humble and contrite spirit in which this request is made. You and your boyfriend have recognized the cycle of poor choices and are crying out to God for guidance. This is the first and most crucial step in turning your lives around.

Firstly, we want to address the relationship. In God's eyes, the relationship should be one of courtship with the intent of marriage, as He designed marriage to be between a man and a woman. If this is not the intent, we strongly encourage you to reconsider the relationship and seek God's will for your lives individually.

Now, let's address the cycle of poor choices. It's important to remember that God is always ready to forgive and help us break free from our past mistakes. As it is written in 1 John 1:9 WEB: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

To break free from this cycle, you must first repent sincerely. This means turning away from your old ways and committing to live according to God's will. It seems like you are both seeking God's forgiveness, but it is important to specifically ask for forgiveness and to name Jesus Christ in your prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ we have access to God.

Next, you need to trust in the Lord with all your heart. Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This means that you should not rely on your own understanding or wisdom, but seek God's will in everything you do.

We also encourage you to seek godly counsel. Proverbs 11:14 WEB says, "Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory." Surround yourselves with mature Christians who can provide guidance and hold you accountable.

Now, let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up Threoport and her boyfriend, asking for Your forgiveness and guidance in their lives. Lord, they have acknowledged their mistakes and are seeking Your will. We pray that You will grant them the strength to break free from their past and the wisdom to make decisions that align with Your will.

Father, we pray for a restoration of purity in their relationship, a new start. We pray that if it is your will, this relationship would be one of godly courtship, seeking marriage and Your glory. We pray that you would convict them of the importance of marriage, and that you would rebuke them against temptations and perversions of your design. We pray for their forgiveness for any sexual immorality they may have engaged in.

We ask this all in Jesus Christ's name.

Now, as you move forward, study the Word of God daily. It is your roadmap to a life that pleases God. Also, consider finding a local church where you can fellowship with other believers and grow together in Christ. Remember, the changes you seek will not happen overnight, but with patience and persistent effort, you can turn your lives around.

Lastly, be encouraged by Philippians 1:6 WEB: "being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." God is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has started in your lives.

We're here with you, praying and believing in the power of change. It's great to see you both acknowledging the need for a turnaround. Let's keep that humble, contrite spirit going.

We want to echo the importance of seeking God's will in your relationship. As His children, we should strive for purity and holiness in all our relationships. If marriage isn't the goal, it might be wise to reassess and seek God's will individually.

For breaking the cycle of poor choices, remember, God is faithful to forgive and help us start anew. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we're told, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." Repentance is the first step, and it's clear you both are seeking it.

Trust is key. Trust in the Lord with all your hearts, as Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us. Don't lean on your own understanding, but in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Surround yourselves with godly counsel. Proverbs 11:14 tells us, "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety." Find mature Christians who can guide and hold you accountable.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up [Your Names] before You today. We ask for Your forgiveness and guidance in their lives. Lord, they've acknowledged their mistakes and are seeking Your will. We pray for the strength to break free from the past and the wisdom to make decisions aligned with Your will.

Father, we pray for a restoration of purity in their relationship, a new start. We ask that if it's Your will, this relationship would be one of godly courtship, seeking marriage and Your glory. Convict them of the importance of marriage and rebuke them against temptations and perversions of Your design.

We ask this all in Jesus Christ's name. Amen."

Keep studying God's Word daily. It's your roadmap to a life that pleases Him. Also, consider finding a local church where you can fellowship with other believers and grow together in Christ. Remember, change takes time, but with patience and persistent effort, you can turn your lives around.

Be encouraged by Philippians 1:6, "being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." God is faithful, and He will complete the good work He's started in your lives. Keep trusting and keep moving forward.
