We understand that you've been through immense pain and suffering, which has distorted your view of God. It's important to remember that God is loving, caring, and kind. The evil and suffering in this world can make it difficult to trust in Him, but our Father is good.
First, let's address the view of God. In 1 John 4:8 WEB it says, "He who doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love." God's very nature is love. He is not the author of the evil and suffering in this world. Instead, He sent His Son to save us from it. In John 3:16-17 we read, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn't send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him."
We need to take care that we do not end up blaming God for the actions of people or the consequences of sin. In John 10:10 WEB, Jesus said, "The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly." It is the enemy, Satan, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. God, through Jesus Christ, came to give us abundant life.
It is important to pray in the name of Jesus and have access to God. It is wonderful that the request is praying to Jesus. In John 14:6, WEB, Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.". Just as it is only through Jesus that we have access to God, it is by His name that we can expect to find salvation. In Acts 4:12 it says, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Fear is a very real issue that can plague us but the Bible says "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love." In 1 John 4:18 WEB. Remember, God loves you perfectly and He has cast out all fear.
When dealing with depression and medication, it's crucial to remember that God cares about our physical and mental health. Seeking professional help is not a lack of faith. In fact, God can work through doctors and medicine to bring healing. In Psalm 147:3 WEB we read "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Pray for healing, but also consider seeing a counselor or therapist.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ who has been through immense pain and suffering. Lord, we ask that You heal his broken heart and bind up his wounds as mentioned in Psalm 147:3. Help him to see You as You truly are—a loving, caring, and kind Father who wants the best for His children.
In the name of Jesus, we rebuke any spirit of fear, depression, and despair. We ask that You fill our brother with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear. Help him to trust in You and to see that You are not the author of evil, but the giver of life and hope as mentioned in John 10:10.
Guide him to seek the help he needs, both spiritually and professionally. Surround him with Your peace, and give him strength and courage to face each day. We ask that he will be a beacon of hope to others with similar struggles and be a powerful signal of God's grace, mercy, and love.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to engage in worship, prayer, and studying God's Word. These disciplines can help you grow closer to God and understand His true nature. Surround yourself with a supportive community of believers who can encourage you and pray with you.
Remember Psalm 34:18 WEB, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." God is near to you, and He wants to heal your broken heart. Trust in Him, and He will see you through this difficult time.
Lastly, keep praying to the Father in Jesus' name, as He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. It is by His name that we are saved and have access to the Father. By the stripes of Jesus we are healed and saved so keep your eyes on Him.
